Just curious if all the "I got a job!" are close to what they made before...

can we get a percentage of what this new job pays in relation to your old one?

In the interest of being fully candid-- I am currently employed. The job I am interviewing right now is definitely a salary increase.

I have had 4 friends in the past 3-4 months who have gained employment. 3 were at a greater salary than previous roles.

One was about the same when you lumped in all the benefits and everything else.

Yes. after 90some weeks. Slightly higher salary, better benefits[less taken out of my salary].

Luck or fate or whatever . I got turned down or not even considered for many jobs paying much less in that time & was totally prepared to take them.

I finally landed a job in the beginning of April, it pays half the salary I used to make. But, I received all 99 weeks and had to take this job. I would have been stupid not to. I'm not complaining about the salary, I'm just greatful I have this for now. Hopefully down the road, salary increases will happen or another job opportunity.

The first time I got laid off, I ended up making more than double at the next job I got.

Then this time, my base salary offer is the same as my older job...but with commission I should make as much as the second job if not more.

But at the original job I had before the recession, it was a small company and I was VERY underpaid. So if I had been making the real salary I deserved there, I probably would be around the same range give or take 10,000$.

But I have applied for things for less money and would have taken them if I got offered them. Like another poster said, no one ever calls me back for the lower paying jobs. I am willing to do them and I get ignored or told I am over qualified.

I was laid off at the end of 2008. 3 months later I got a job making less, but definitely livable. Then the company collapsed. Nice stain on the ol' resume. Meh.

I make a little less than previously, BUT the benefits are good and there is a lot of growth opportunity due the the fact that the company I now am employed with only promotes from within. All persons start out at the entry level position.
