This thread is about EB on NJ. For that reason, it is unlikely to attract someone who knows the continuing status of EB in Washington, DC. I've check the DC DOL website, and there is really ntohing there about an expiration date for EB.

I suggest you start a new thread in this forum for UI issues in Washington, DC -- like the expiration of EB,

Whether or not Extended Benefits will continue after November 30 is state specific.

New Jersey, by state law, continues to pay EB if the triggers are met. From what I read, NJ is in the minority on this procedure.

In Wisconsin, EB ends December 12th - triggers or not - even if there is money remaining in your account. It stops. In Florida, EB ends December 4th.

Check your state website or call your DOL to determine what your state guidelines are.

Once again -- EB is not available in all states after November 30. Please do your homework and check sources of info before you repeatedly misstate the realities of these benefits, or continue to contradict those who state the facts.

Ridiculous or not, that is the law in many states -- because there is insufficient funding to pay for EB.

EB has traditionally been a benefit whose cost is shared by the federal government and by the state -- the federal government has always paid 50% of the cost; the state has paid the other 50%.

When the stimulus act was passed in November 2009, among its temporary reliefs was that the federal government assumed 100% of the funding of EB for a limited time.

That 100% federal funding has been extended several times (as have the EUC Tiers) -- but it is not guaranteed. When that 100% federal funding expires, it reverts to the 50%/50% sharing terms of the original EB.

Because many states cannot afford to pay that 50% in these economic times, they have enacted laws that require EB to be funded 100% by the federal government in order for EB to be provided in that state.

Other states --like NJ -- continue to provide EB under the 50%/50% sharing formula because their respective state laws set only employment rate triggers for those benefits, and the source of funding is irrelevant.

This information has been covered in numerous threads here in the past and is readily available through internet sources for those who care to verify before misinforming other members.

It helps no one for another to simply "guess" at an answer here. It wastes time and leads people down false tracks -- despite one's good intentions.

There are many knowledgeable people on this forum who know a great deal about technical and practical aspects of unemployment benefits on the federal level and in many different states. Ariadne22 is one of these, and in an earlier post here you contradicted her answer to another's question -- yet her answer was correct.

Unless you are certain of an answer -- and can provide a personal experience or a reference to source material to back up what you are posting -- volunteering an answer and not identifying it as a "guess" isn't fair to others who may actually believe it is factual.

I'm in NY state. I've been wondering how many weeks of EB I'm entitled to. I have $101.25 left in my account as of today as I come to the end of Tier IV which will cover me for one day this week. Then EB should kick in next week w/e 10/3/10. The NYS website says

Note: The last payable week of Extended Benefits is the week ending December 5, 2010.
Am I correct to presume that (unless I get a job) I'm eligible for EB through w/e 12/5/10 (a total of 10 weeks) and then that's the end for me and anyone else collecting EB in NYS?

Correct, unless Congress extends EUC once again by the November 30th expiration date.

This thread is about EB in NJ. However, there are numerous threads in the Unemployment and Politics Forums that do provide regular updates on extensions of and additions to the EUC Tiers.

You can easily locate the relevant threads through a search. In the meantime, you can start with these:
