What was the outcome of your situations? I recieved the same letter in the mail (nj). It's a little confusing but I believe it means we have to wait 7 weeks then the unemployment starts, so we don't get any credit for the previous 7 weeks. The wording in the letter kind of worries me bc it says "you MAY be eligible for benefits after 7 weeks". Why do they use the wording "may"? I'm unsure if I should file an appeal or just wait the extra 1.5 weeks to start collecting

Don't appeal. For now, ignore the word "may." You penalty is to wait seven weeks before you are eligible for benefits. You still get the full amount of your monetary determination, just have to wait to collect. Call NJ at the beginning of the 8th week to reactivate your claim, so that you can file a claim at the beginning of the following week.

I am in California. Due to disqualification (false statement), I have a penalty period of 8 weeks. I have been turning in my claim forms, but I'm wondering if that means I will never be paid for those 8 weeks or if that means I will be paid after the 8 weeks (which will include the monies from the previous 8 weeks).

You will begin receiving benefits on a regular biweekly schedule, but it will take eight weeks longer to exhaust your monetary determination - i.e., those 8 penalty weeks are not paid retro in a lump sum but on the back end by extending the length of time it takes to collect.

In other words, your original monetary determination is not reduced. You are just "put in the corner for 8 weeks."

I was put on 5 weeks disqulification in ca for leaving out some info a few months ago. They sent me a letter saying I wasn't able to get benefits for those 5 weeks but should still file my weekly clams. My question is after the 5 weeks are up will I be receving my benefits normally after words? I've been trying to call edd to ask but there always so packed with calls I never get thru. Anyone have an answer?

In CA, you keep filing claims. Once you have submitted claims for five weeks, CA will automatically begin to pay you again.

Keep claiming.

Does anyone know if i am going to get my 6 week disqualification benefits?, i already got me a job but i really thought i was going to see that money after the time period they had said, i got a last form to send still but i cant because i was already working on that time period. Btw the disqualification was due some some back pay money from a previous claim which im paying on a monthly basis. Thanks
