Default Am I the only one who hasn't receive a check this week? CA EDD

I filled up my form and sent it on Monday night ( Nov 1st) and I was supposed to receive it on Saturday ( nov 6th) or Monday (8th) the latest. I called the "where is my check" number EDD has, to find out if they had mailed it yet, but the message stated that the last check they paid was the one I received before I sent my form.

I don't know what happened, did the form got lost in the mail? has EDD not mailed the checks yet? I heard on the news that CA is broke and is borrowing around 40 millions daily just to pay for unemployment?

Also, I received an over payment notice and I have to pay back $1070 dollar for 2 weeks worth of pay plus the fine. I received the letter 3 weeks ago and I still haven't pay them back, or call them to make an arrangement, can they stop sending you checks if you owe them and haven't pay them?

OH yeah, I started working this week, I found a job which I think is going to start paying me around $14-15 an hour, which is not bad but based on my experience in the trade I should be making at least $20, but I'm going to hold on to it while I find something better.

What was the overpayment for? Also that is more than likely where your check went, to pay the overpayment. As it is one of the means in which overpayments are paid off.

In Wisconsin, you get a notice on making payments to repay - say over a period of 10 weeks. But CA being CA, probably not. You most likely won't see anything until that $1,070 is repaid, although they certainly should notify you. But, again, this is CA. Send them an email. You will get an answer.

Also usually they deduct overpayments at 50% if it's non-fraud and 100% if it was made fraudulently.

I called to make a payment plan and the lady told me that they were going to deduct the overpayment from the check. What surprise me is that when I received the overpayment notice i also received my check and I still received another two checks after that, since I didn't received anything for a month while they had their investigation going. Now three weeks later I found a job (edd doesnt know yet)and they decide to stop sending the checks and start my 6 weeks penalty where i won't receive any unemployment.

My overpayment was a mistake, i reported some money on February, I ended up getting paid until august and edd thinks I worked on august and didn't report it. Also when I filled up my form, I wrote that I worked with a friend instead of stating that I worked for company x ( and i did, because the company didn't hire me for the job, my friend asked me to help him and just charge the company ) but the company paid me and reported my wages.

you were a w-2 (had taxes taken out?) employee when you worked for your friend? (obviously if they reported your wages)

You just said you got paid until august and I guess you didn't report it. Or are you saying you did the work in february but weren't paid until August? That's a 7 month gap. If he reported that you had wages in august from work you did in Febraury, that's actually a bad mistake by him. As I said above if he reported your wages that obviously means you filled out a w-4. I could be wrong but a 1099 should have been the better choice by him since it was a long delay in payment. And 1099 income doesn't get reported quarterly to teh state payroll tax department like w-2 work.

You either aren't telling us the whole story or your friend screwed you and should tell the unemployment agency that it's his fault you were paid for febraurys work in August.

I'm just trying to make sense of this story.

I did the work on February and got paid in August. I filled up the W4 in February thinking I was getting paid soon, I had to file a small claim law suit against the company to get my money. I already explained it to someone at the unemployment agency, but since I filled up the form and I stated that I worked with a friend and not for the company that paid me, they said that the money I reported was money I earned somewhere else.
