The extensions which were passed this month (HR 4853) are the extension of the eligibility cut-off dates to January 2012 for the four existing EUC Tiers, and the reinstatement of the 100% federal funding for EB into January 2012. Neither of these two extensions provides any additional benefits for 99ers -- nor for others who have exhausted the maximum weeks of benefits for which they qualified.
The extension proposed in HR 6556 (described below) is the third and most recent bill introduced since August 2010 that would provide additional benefits for 99ers.

HR 6556 would make the additional weeks available to jobless in all states (not just those with high unemployment triggers), and the 14 weeks would also be paid to those who have exhausted extensions previously available to them (EUC Tiers and/or EB).
The bill is currently being reviewed by the House Ways and Means Committee.

Crossing fingers for all 99ers (though I can see adding weeks to an existing Tier totally screwing up the state UE computers once again)

I know for many of us hearing the phrase: "Happy Holidays" seems almost cruel,
BUT, I sincerely wish everyone who follows these posts the very best in 2011 and thanks to ALL senior members for their past advice and support...it means more than you might imagine

Happy New Year.
Hope everyone is ready to lobby our federal Congress for unemployment compensation that bears true witness to our Ninth Amendment, a federal doctrine, and State at-will employment laws.
