I was scheduled for a monetary appointment over the telephone on Monday, December 27th but because of the snow the call center was closed and was not called. I am still waiting for a call back and wondering if there are any steps I can take on my end to find out whats going on. I attempted to call the offices directly but due to high call volume I was told to call back.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

did you just file your claim, continuing a claim or on an extension? You can get through by keep hitting redial. It works for me everytime. But be prepared to hold for about 30-40 mins

I filed my claim at the beginning of the month. I already had one interview and this is the second one. Monetary or claims examiner interview, I am not sure as this is my first time applying for UE benefits. Either way I am concerned because I have not heard anything since yesterday when I was originally scheduled.

I don't understand if they can not handle the call volume, shouldn't they hire more people???
I'm sorry I'm just venting my frustrations.

Side question: I was terminated due to excessive absences that were justified because I had to make several court appearances because of an ongoing litigation that I am going through.

Does my claim hold any merit.

I sincerely appreciate everyone's help.

Thank You.

i cant say for certain, but they might impose a penalty waiting period before you can collect. It happened to a friend of mine, always late for work or missing work. He had to wait like 7-8 weeks.

They will probably reschedule the telephone interview via mail but keep trying them on the phone and hopefully it won't drag out another few weeks. This sounds like a claims examiner review, where they want details regarding your termination. You should have information regarding names, dates, what was said to you, and by whom. Did you get warnings? Were you written up? Were you a no-show? You must prove that there was no willful misconduct on your part. It's all about who they believe is telling the truth.

A monetary determination in NJ is issued in writing early on, and if you disagree with the amount, you can appeal it with your pay-stubs as proof.
