My wife has just transitioned to EB in PA. We are considering having her go back to college part time. The EB work search requirements do not specify if "approved training" must be part time or full time. Hypothetically, would enrolling in one class for a particular program satisfy the work search requirements in PA for EB? Thanks.

The key words there are "approved training." You signing up for a class is not approved training. It's a formal process where you have to apply to be approved for training. Get used to the idea of submitting your work searches.

When I was on UI EB in 2010, I did not have to have anything approved. I called the UI office and told them I was a full time student. They told me to list the college and the program I was enrolled in, in the work search area of the forms. There was no approval process. I used my UI to earn a degree. We're trying to make that work for my wife too. She only has a few classes left for her major. Stop assuming we are just trying to skirt the work search requirements. There are simply not enough classes left in her program to be considered full time.

The thing is that you called UI, so ineffect you were approved.

You'll still have to call UI for your wife, and do the same thing. However, I vaguely remember PA having a more liberal work search requirement than other states, so that was why it was so easy for you you're first go round.

In AZ, you have to submit a proposal for training, they approve it, and then you're claim forms are delivered to the school you're attending, so that if you don't go to class, you don't get your check.

Interesting. I'm not sure what legwork was done in the background to verify my classes and attendance. I was just happy to be getting through school. We will have to look into it. May just be easier to apply to 2 places a week :P
