Would I be able to collect unemployment? (California)
Hello, I've got a couple questions I was hoping I could get answered. I live in Los Angeles right now. I moved from San Diego, and when I moved from there I quit my job, where I was making $15/hour. I have some money in savings which is why I was willing to move without a job lined up. I found a job pretty quick and started recently, only make $10/hour though. Problem is, I'm not liking the job so far, and I don't think my skill set matches up with what I'm doing (basically I'm not that good at it).
So my main question is, if I got laid off from this new job, would I be able to collect unemployment? Also, how long would I have to last at this new place to qualify for unemployment? My last day at my old job was 3/12 (worked there about a year and had a job for a year and half before that, so I've been steadily employed) and I started this new job on 4/2. And would what I get for unemployment be based on my highest earning quarter from last year (I read on the CA unemployment website that they ignore the previous quarter and use the highest quarter from the last 4).
On a different note, I was also curious how unemployment would be affected if I sign up for college while on unemployment. Would I be able to do that, or does college rule out unemployment? What if I take night classes so I'm still able to work during the day?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
