I went online to reopen a claim got a confirmation number yet the funds have not been deposited. calling is an endless frustration. Can,t get through. Message says hang up and call back. all week I have tried. PLEASE HELP

Keep calling, or wait it out. "Reopening" isn't as easy as EDD would make you believe. They have to find out why you're reopening and depending on the circumstances, that can easily take 3 weeks before they pay you anything, and you need to just keep filing your biweekly claims.

Since this is a NJ thread, assume you are in NJ.

When did you reopen? Know that - reopening a claim does NOT mean instant payment. NJ will want to know why you are reopening the claim and may conduct an investigation. You won't be seeing any money for several weeks at least.

If you are totally frustrated, go to a NJ local one-stop office. Someone there may help expedite the process. Nonetheless, if NJ needs an investigation, monies will not be immediately forthcoming.

Last month I worked out side of NJ. I tried to apply on line and they requested call them. I have been calling for 3 weeks everyday to file a claim and after hours waiting got desconect. I went 3 times already to UE NJ office and they sent me to the phone and the samething after 3 or 4 hours on the phone got desconect. Please does anyone can help me? It is already 3 weeks with no job and no money.

Email your State of NJ representative. Tell him you can't get through on the phone and even going to local office doesn't help. Contacting a state rep usually results in immediate response. Find your legislator, here:

I am 66 yrs and still working. I also started social sec pymts. I am now losing my job

Can I collect unemployment

Your zipcode says NJ. The answer is Yes. Social Security will not affect your benefits in any way.
