This is in California. I haven't been on unemployment for 2 years. Out of nowhere, I got a letter from EDD informing me of the new requirements for filing unemployment. Under the "Why are you receiving this?" header, it says I filed for EUC 2 years ago. Did everyone who got the extension get the same notice? Will I keep getting notices from EDD forever? I'm concerned that something is amiss and EDD thinks I'm still receiving unemployment. The letter contains everything needed to steal my identity including my full SSN. Even the IRS doesn't do that. If I had moved, then that wouldn't be good.

There are many people in limbo in regards to unemployment even within your time frame. Some get hired but get laid off again etc. etc. EDD assumes this of all and continues communication even years after the fact. They ask you specifically in the booklet, if I am remembering correctly, to keep in contact them when you change your address because of such scenario you brought up. When the employment picture improves a bit more, EDD will eventual layoff on the mailings, but not now.
