So Sunday May 5 will be the 7th week without a check. Ive contacted the DWD on several occasions and they told me my claim was sent to whomever? on March 27. They told me it could be 4-6 weeks from that date. Is anyone else having delays? They said their extremely busy, but I know of no one who is having to wait this long.

No other state takes this long to transition people to EUC from earlier claims. CA, NJ, NY all perform this procedure with no more than a week's delay.

DWD has had numerous changes of leadership - constant resignations - since Walker kept appointing people with no experience in the field to head of Workforce Development. I'm guessing the top-down management is in complete disarray and morale is low, which translates to indifference. However, the civil service bureaucrats and employees should still be keeping things together.

For some reason, WI is still in the dark ages and needs to manually (as you were told) input data which really should be computerized. The data entry point is where things get backed up in my experience.

I suggest you email the Governor's office and your local state representatives. I was forced to do this during Gov. Doyle's tenure on data-entry of a simple benefit recalculation. Wi had all the info it needed from me and the benefit adjudicator, who had sent the info at the end of November to data processing, but data-entry still hadn't inputted the info into the computers by the end of January. The process itself was the problem.

Got a telephone call from Doyle's office three days after my email later telling me money was in my account. I don't expect you'll get this type of service from Walker, but your state representatives should help. Others on CD have contacted their representatives in PA, IL and elsewhere, and had their problems solved within a week.

WI isn't that poor that these normal reversions to earlier claims should be so hard. If you read upthread, another claimant was put on his tiers from an older claim without a problem, exhausted those, and is now collecting recently triggered Tier 3 from the newer claim. Lots of back and forth there without a problem. So, you are right, this is hard to explain.

Well I finally received my payments for the 7 weeks. I contacted rep. Reimer and his office was very helpful. However, I see now my remaining balance is $90. Now Im pretty sure that was the rest of benefits for a tier 1 claim back in 09. Will I have to wait another week to transition to another week? Will nexts weeks payment be $90? I have this feeling theres going to be another delay like the one I just had.

Happy to hear Rep. Reimer was of help. Hopefully, his office was the catalyst which got WI off the mark.

Now that you've actually transitioned to the EUC benefits from your 09 claim, there should be no further delay. WI should be crediting your account for each tier as you progress through your benefits. Of course, if there is another stall, contact Reimer's office again.

Your benefit for Tier 2 from the 09 claim should be the full weekly amount for however many weeks that claim was eligible, less the 10.7% sequester reduction, which WI put into effect with week ending 4/6. The $90 could also be reflecting the sequester reduction, depending on the effective date of your actual transition to Tier 1 from the 09 claim. The account balance for Tier 2 should also reflect this sequester reduction, beginning with payments for week ending 4/6 and after, not before.

What was your original weekly benefit for that claim? You can figure back from that.

Ok so I received 2 letters from DWD today. One says EUC benefit year 09/27/09-09/25/10, rate $161.00 and $1224.00 total. The other says EUC benefit year 08/26/12-08/24/13, rate $161.00 and $4164.00 available. Im thinking I claimed more weeks than I actually thought and the $90 is whats left from the old claim. So is the newer EUC claim setup for no delays? Is this including the sequestered? That original $1224.00 that showed up on my DWD login was apparently deducted in my bank account. It was like $1037 and then $90 left.

Do you mean you were previously paid, long ago, $1,037 on Claim 1? So, the $90 is what you assume is left on Claim 1. Ok, that said...

It's hard to know if the sequester reduction was applied without knowing your original monetary determinations and weekly benefits for both claims.

It is odd that both claims have the same wekly benefit of $161.

So....

Claim 1 - 9/27/09-09/25/10 - $1,224 balance = leaves you 7.60 wks benefits @ $161, probably all of which was paid with the $90 payment.
What was your original monetary determination?
Was it $161x26, or something else?
Did you receive 26 weeks' state benefits under that claim, or something less?

Claim 2 - 08/26/12-08/24/13 - $4,164 available = 25.86 wks benefits @ $161.
What was your original monetary determination for Claim 2?
Was it $161x26 ($4,164), or something else?

The letter for Claim 2 conveniently provides almost 26 weeks' benefits at $161, which makes me think that is a letter on the original monetary determination of Claim 2 - which you have now exhausted.

or, possibly that letter refers to Tiers 1 and 2 of Claim 2 (28 wks), less the 10.7% sequester reduction. However, WI only credits a tier after the previous tier is exhausted, so for WI to have now credited you with Tiers 1 and 2 does not make sense.

More details on these claims, please.

I was paid today for 7 weeks of EUC pay $1037. There now is $90 left in my online DWD account. Few hours after I contacted Rep. Reimer, I checked and saw available benefits at $1224.00. My old claim from 09 was 26 weeksx161. The claim that started on 8/24/12 was $210.00x26weeks. Im thinking they made an error. My EUC claim for 8/24/12- 8/24/13 is for $161.00x26=4164. It should be at $200 weekly right? Thats a 10% reduction from $210.00

OK, Claim 1 = $1,224/161 = 7.6 weeks

2wks @ 161.00 = $322.00 (full benefit b/4 sequester)
5wks @ 143.00 = $715.00 (after sequester $161-10.7%=$143)
Total.................$1,037.00 - you have been paid this amount

Balance Claim 1 - $90 (see below)

$1,224 - Claim balance
....-322 - 2 wks @ $161
$...902 - balance
......-97 - sequester reduction ($902x10.7%)
$...805 - balance after sequester
....-715 - 5 wks @ 143
$.....90 - Balance remaining

So, Claim 1 makes sense.

*****

Now, for Claim 2:

Claim 2 - $210 x 26 = $5,460 original monetary determination (not $4,164)
Claim 2 - $5,460 x 54% = $2,948 - Tier 1 allocation
Claim 2 - $2,948 x 10.7% = $315 sequester reduction
Claim 2 - $2,633 = Tier 1 allocation after sequester ($2,948 - $315)
Claim 2 - $2,633/14 = $188.00
Claim 2 - $188.00 - New weekly benefit after sequester (give or take a dollar, depending on how WI rounds.) You could also reduce $210 by 10.7%, to arrive at a benefit of $187/week.

Therefore, using the higher figure, you should be paid

Tier 1 - $2,632 ($188 x 14)
Tier 2 - $2,632 ($188 x 14)

Yes, whoever did the numbers for these letters made a mistake and used the same weekly benefit for both - probably because they were in a rush.

Your Claim 2 benefit, after the sequester reduction, is $188.

You might try calling and see if a WI rep can't fix this wrong calculation for you right away.

If it appears you'll have trouble, you'll probably have to contact Rep. Reimer again, immediately. You may want to send an email to your contact, spelling all this out. Hard to get the numbers straight over the phone.

If you don't, you'll be waiting a long time for your money.

***********

FYI - When you finally get this straightened out, WI may credit your account with 13 weeks Tier 1 ($2,444) before it credits you with the remaining $188 for the 14th week of Tier 1, because Tier 1 is set up in two parts. Same with Tier 2. But, at the very least, once you have exhausted the $90, your next credit should be at least $2,444.

Good luck. Let us know what happens.

If you've read this thread you will know that WI is having problems. Try emailing or calling them. Years back, the transitions to EUC went without a hitch. It may be the sequester cuts have created programming problems and WI has resorted to manual entries for all transitions from state to federal benefits.

If you've had an earlier claim with WI which has unexhausted EUC, definitely you be waiting a long time. Again, read this thread. Previous poster not only had delays, which contacting his rep resolved, now he's got his sequester cuts figured wrong - which he doesn't know because he hasn't returned to this thread.

And, as I said upthread, write your state representative. They may move your claim to the top of the pile.
