I have a question about my unemployment in December 2012.
My claim was filed in December 2011 and using the benefit calculator I am entitled to 52 weeks of benefits. Twenty six regular weeks and then some emergency compensation weeks.
If I am still unemployed in December 2012, they will ask me to file a new claim, they do that with everyone at year end of claim.
My question is that in December 2012, my base period would be calculated as July 1, 2011 thru June 30, 2012 the entire time of which I was on unemployment (original claim). Does those earnings count in the base calculation or not?
Now I worked full time at one employer from March 2002 thru September 2010, eight and a half years. There is no way to go back to these quarters say from 2008 or 2009. It is just that the job market is very bad, contrary to what the news says. I put out at least ten resumes every week and maybe get one call back. I am struggling on the $405 and honestly could not live on anything less. I am so ashamed as I have borrowed money from parents, my sisters and close friends. I had to give IOU's on all birthday gifts. I am worried about what will happen in December.

Correct. You have to recertify at the BYE (Benefit Year End)

No,those earnings are not counted toward year earnings.

As it stands now, you will recertify in December, at this point, you will be found ineligible for a new claim, unless NY does what CA does and has all sorts of alternative benefit years possible (I am going on what you are saying in your post as researched fact). At that point, you will be put back onto the extensions...if they are still available.

Depending on what Congress does, and when your actual date is, there may not be any extensions left. ALL Ui extensions are scheduled to end for all claimants at the end of December.
Good Luck,
