I finished my initial 26 week of UI and just received the claim form for my first extension that i will mail on 4/28

I have a temporary part time job that might lead to a permanent full time position scheduled 5/13 - 5/21 but now I'm worried that my REA appointment might fall during that week. I don't want to screw up the possibility of a job but also don't want my benefits denied because I missed the REA appt.

Can anybody share the time-frame for when they typically schedule the REA appt from when you end your initial 26 weeks and beginning the first extension?

Thanks,

If that happens, call EDD and postpone the meeting as soon as you get the letter. They are not going to penalize you for working that week and being unable to meet with them. I was audited when I was on UI in CA, before all the extensions and all happened, so just the random audit. I had an interview the day the audit was initially scheduled. I called EDD and had no issue or delay with the postponement. And no benefit delay. The response of the EDD rep I spoke with was to make sure the interview I was delaying the appointment for was mentioned on the job log and that EDD was in the business of people getting back to work and off benefits and that except in wild circumstances would not expect someone to blow off employment for a EDD meeting.

As for the meeting, I made it onto my 2nd claim and was on Tier 2 and had not received the REA letter.

mine was scheduled about a month into my first tier. The letter will tell you what to do if you need to re-schedule. Don't sit on that letter and do nothing. Decide that first day if you can make the appointment or not. Then do exactly what it says to reschedule quickly and there should be no problem with payments assuming you attend the next scheduled appointment. Some advice, have your resume on caljobs already updated before you change your appointment. It shows you are following current requirements and being prompt in rescheduling.
