Can't say for sure. It seems some states won't pay when bye occurs at the end of a week. All you can do is attempt to claim and see if the system accepts it.

Also, in NY, you don't need to call. NY prefers you file a new claim online. So, if you get that message, do so.

quick update:

today is 7/7/13, my BYE date. i just certified for the final week of 7/1 - 7/7 and it was accepted.

there were actually two options, one to certify for this week, and one to file a new claim (which i have to do as well). so after i certified for this week, i went back to file a new claim.

but after i answered the preliminary questions & clicked continue - it said that i can't file a new claim because i currently have a valid one on file, and that i have to call the telephone claims center tomorrow.

i'll keep you all updated. thanks!

another update:

today is 7/10/13, and my payment for the final week before BYE has been deposited. success!!

as for filing a new claim to continue getting the weeks/tiers i have left: i tried to file online but got confused with question asking if i've worked in the past 18 months. i have - it was a 2 month job from may/june 2012, and it was in NJ. does that mean i have to file a claim for NJ??

called the UI office to find out, couldnt reach a real person but i got a call-back. the rep i said that no claim for NJ was needed & that they would give me the extension (put me back on my NY claim). he transferred me to another person to facilitate that, but the call got disconnected. so - i had to set up another call-back for tomorrow morning.

getting a little frustrated but i'm still hoping for the best. i'll continue to update in case anyone else is having the same issue.

good luck to everyone out there!

good news

i filed the new claim online, but did not put in the info about my 2 month NJ job because the claims rep said i didn't have to. once i finished the new claim, a message came up that i had to call the telephone claims center to complete it, which i did.

the representative confirmed my info (name, date of birth, address, etc) and that i had not worked in NYS during the past year, and then she put me back on my original claim (extended benefits). and she told me to keep certifying each week.

that was it! quick and easy. filing the new claim online took about 10 minutes, and speaking to the rep took maybe 5 minutes, if that.

everything has worked out and i'm so relieved!

good luck to everyone out there, dont give up!
