I had an unemployment claim effective 10/2010 but went back to work in several times for a few weeks here or there during that benefit year. When I got laid off again in 1/2012, they had me file a new claim because my bye had passed, even though I hadn't collected all available benefits. since then my new claim had expired a few months ago.
just yesterday I got a letter from the nys dept of labor saying that I may be eligible for additional euc08 benefits under another claim and I don't understand how that could be. I would be grateful for it, since I am still out of work and industrial and commercial construction is at a standstill here in ny. When I log on to the nys website it shows the payment history from the 10/2010 claim but does not allow me to certify for weekly benefits. has anyone experienced anything similar? thanks
Did you begin federal EUC on the 2010 claim? If so, whatever remains of those benefits can be collected now. Normally, NY should have paid those 2010 benefits after you had exhausted state benefits from the 2012 claim.
But - NY hasn't always adhered to that order of payment. So, if you do have 2010 EUC remaining, it is because NY paid the 2012 EUC first.
I began federal EUC on that claim, yes. during that time, I could have been eligible for up to 99 weeks of ueb, but, I would rather work, of course. under my newer claim, I was entitled to a lot less in the way of EUC. I will try getting through to them again on Monday. their phone system is awful, almost set up so you would give up. thanks for the advice.
