Then don't worry about it. There is this thing called the New Hire Database. The employer might have submitted the date on which you were offered and accepted the job rather than reporting your actual first day of work.

That makes sense. Do states share this information? I was hired in Nevada, not CA, where my unemployment claim was placed.

There are state new hire data bases that transit to a federal new hire data base, that then gets distributed to the other 49 state new hire data bases other than the state in which you started working.
