I lost a previous job in Oct 2013 and since I only worked there for 2 months, I did my math and that claim will definitely not qualify for extensions since I didn't earn 40x my weekly amount here in CA. I already know Congress is still debating to bring the extensions back, but it wouldn't make much of a difference for me right now.
I've been working on and off for a temp agency and I've definitely earned more than enough for a new claim. Chances are I will probably run out of my Oct 2013 claim this summer, far before Oct 2014.
Will I be able to start a new claim after the money in my Oct 2013 claim runs out, or do I have to wait until after Oct 2014 for my new claim to get money?
If you exhaust the funds from your Oct 2013 claim prior to your Oct 2014 BYE you have to wait until Oct 2014 to file a new claim. You are allowed one claim in a 52 week period.
