My girlfriend missed her unemployment appeal hearing and when she called the unemployment office to reschedule they told her to write them a letter explaining why she missed the hearing. It was just an honest case of confusing the date and the next morning she called the office to inform them of the error.
My question is does this letter need to be a detailed explanation on the circumstances of why she confused the date or would a simple explanation of just making an honest mistake suffice?
If she forgot, that is almost never good cause. However, if there is more to the story like she had multiple dates regarding similiar UI issues, then that can be seen as good cause.
Another thing to consider is why she was appealing. Could be the appeal wouldn't have made any difference anyway so there is no reason to bother trying to get an appeal hearing now.
