huh, where are you? Which tiers did you collect? Do you not want 20 more weeks or do you not want to call? Tier to Tier transitions are automatic and if you don't want benefits, just stop certifying.

Ok, I live In Augusta Ga. I just recertified for my last week of Tier 2 benefits. Does this mean I will qualify for Tier 3?

Your Tier claim balance is exhausted as of the Saturday before your CERTIFICATION day.

EUC Tier benefits must be exhausted by CLAIM WEEK ENDING Saturday April 3, 2010 to begin the next Tier - if it's not exhausted by then, you complete your current Tier.

For a simple Tier to Tier transition - no additional action is required on your part other than continuing to claim on your certification day. Tiers are automatically filed.

Hello, I am a NJ resident and would like to make sure I understand this correctly. I am currently on Tier III and as of my last unemployment pay stub it stated I have only $495 (my weekly benefit amount) remaining in this tier. The week ending dates for the payment I received on that check were 03/20/2010 and 03/27/2010. If I understand correctly that means the remaining balance shown of $495 would be for the week ending 04/03/2010. According to the NJ Dept of Labor site "Claimants must exhaust Tier 1, 2, or 3 with the week ending April 3, 2010 or earlier." I believe this means I will be eligible for Tier IV. Am I correct?

Yes -- you will start Tier IV on Sunday, April 4.

In order to qualify for the EUC Tiers extensions, you had to have exhausted your regular benefits no later than Saturday, March 27. So there are no federal extensions available to you at this time.

In New Jersey, when you complete a level of UI, you are automatically reviewed for eligibility for the next level (federal and state). You do not have to take any action. When you exhaust your regular benefits -- and no federal Tier extensions are available -- you are automatically considered for EB.

If Congress extends the eligibility cut-off dates for the EUC Tier program, you will be moved to Tier I. If that extension occurs before you begin EB, you will start Tier I instead; if that extension occurs after you begin EB, payment of your EB will be suspended and you will be transferred to Tier I.

Check the NJ DOL website for more info about EB in NJ.

(1) There are no EUC Tier extensions available to you.

(2) Since there are no EUC Tiers available, you may qualify for EB in New Jersey.

(3) When you complete a level of unemployment benefits, New Jersey automatically reviews your eligibility for the next level. You don't do anything -- the state notifies you if you are eligible for the next level.

(4) The eligibility requirements for EB in New Jersey are detailed on the NJ DOL website: Department of Labor and Workforce Development | Unemployment Benefit Extensions

(5) If you are determined eligible for EB, you will receive EB.

(6) If you are determined not eligible for EB, you will receive no further benefits at this time.

(7) If the eligibility cut-off dates for the EUC Tiers are extended by Congress in the future, you will be eligible for Tier I at that time -- whether or not you are collecting EB.
(a) If you are not collecting EB at the time, you will proceed to Tier I.
(b) If you are collecting EB at that time, your EB will be suspended and you will be transferred to Tier I.

Thanks for that. The DOL site claims you must file for EB before April 5, so I guess Im out of luck with that too for now.
