i dont understand how people believe that additional jobs paid for by government (our tax dollars) can help. they are bs jobs and they go away as soon as the money dries up (or our wallets dry up).
i know, im awesome. every woman would want to marry me. i have a problem though, the mods locked my thread where i asked for recommendations on where i should live. i feel violated and i may end up living somewhere with unsavory characters that may try to hurt me.
Half of the time, the person who is unemployed is more intelligent that the workers at unemployment office who are suppose to assist you in finding a new career ( career development dept, etc ).
The US government needs to put more money into developing better programs to help people find the jobs and put less money into companies who have consistantly lost money for 10 years straight.
Being intelligent is irrelevant, and no reason someone should have a job over someone else. Sure if you are looking to employ a lawyer intelligence would matter, but if you are looking for to employ someone to slaughter your cattle, who cares?
What the US needs is more factory worker type jobs and less lawyer/accountant/star buck worker type jobs.
And spending money on "developing better programs to help people find the jobs" is pointless, aside from employing those workers you dislike so much. The problem isn't that people can't find a job, the problem is that there aren't enough jobs available. Which means "finding the job" isn't the problem so helping with that is stupid.

better them than hillbillies, at least you could get better drugs from unsavory characters. The only thing you may get is one Keystone Light from the hillbillies. Ohh wait, Im drug free.
I would appreciate though not being called a chick. It's quite insulting to an educated woman like myself who is about to get her doctorate in a year.
lets see how many times kate can bring up how smart she is and that she is getting a doctorate. is that what qualifies someone to be smart these days? more and more education time?
i have a graduate degree and it does bother me that there were people in my class that clearly didnt deserve to have the same degree as me. i bet they run around saying how smart they are while i know better. even in college i remember doing entire projects for other people (group work) because they sucked so bad (this was primarily international students. for some reason they seem to get a pass from schools. i guess they pay more or look better in the school's pamphlet.)
what do you mean entitled? If you make x amount of dollars for 20 years straight, you have the right to buy a decent home.
You have the right to buy it if you can cough up the money and convince someone to sell it.
I think all this talk of rights misses an important point -- who is responsible for you buying a decent home ? Is the government supposed to provide "universal housing" now ? How do you think that would work out ? (my take is that everyone would end up in a housing project except for the few who were rich enough to pay for everyone else's housing projects and still had enough money left over to buy a house)

They are entitled to it. They worked hard for it. what is the alternative? Make 75k per year every year and not buy a home?
The alternative is that the government gets the hell out of the housing market, and prices go back down to a normal level. That way, a middle class income buys a middle class housing option.

The goverment should be dumping more money into helping people find jobs.
My wife worked in adult literacy. Even this program which teaches rudimentary skills to adults who read, write and add like small children, is expensive because of administrative bloat.
The problem with the government "helping" people get jobs, is that it costs a lot of money to hire people who can provide the kind of training for a decent middle class job.
You have a PhD and you're working full time or at least several hours a week finding yourself a job, all without taxpayer dollars paying for it. Do you think that paying a few dimwitted bureaucrats is going to substantiall change the outcome ?
i had to google frank zappa. i remind you of this guy? i am a very clean cut sort of a guy.
no not the looks, the mind. Read Franks autobiography, he was a genius. My idol. My hero, his music was great too. He wrote 3 symphony orch. too!! He loved classical. He was the best. His mind was so sharp. Your tube some of Franks old interviews. Your tube some of Frank's clip with politics. He was smart.
