Eastbayrunr,
Thanks for the feedback. I still have yet to receive anything in the mail. Went to the one-stop edd service center last week and was told "that I should get something in the mail anytime soon and if I do not receive anything in a week to come back."
In reply to your questions:
I never had a zero balance. I had a remaining balance of 10 weeks left. Hence may claim expired with a remaining balance of 10 weeks. Sounds like your balance hit zero, along with a contiued claim form. Did you exhaust your 2nd or 3rd extension? I would make a copy of your continued claim form and mail it in to continue the extensions going.
It's been well over 10 business days for a reply via mail / email, and like many other folks I am struggling and ready to work. There are no jobs anywhere????

I refiled my claim cause it expired on 1/9/2010. I got my last check week ending 1/9/2010 and it came with a continued claim form which i sent in on week ending 1/24/2010. I am on my 2nd extension and i still have funds on this extension.
Today in the mail i got 3 letters from edd
first one that i have a phone interview on feb 2nd
2nd letter had this
"You had prior Unemployment claim. Benefits cannot be paid on your new claim unless you worked as an employee between 1/8/09 and 01/9/10 and condition a. or b. below is met.
a. You earned at least $1300 as an employee in one quarter between the dates listed above.
b. You earned at least $900 as an employee in your highest quarter or earnings between the dates listed above, and your total earnings during that same time period were at least 1.25 times that highest quarter amount.****
Mail proof of earnings such as copies of check stubs to the EDD office...."
and 3rd came with a continued claim for for week ending 1/24/2010 ( but i have already sent this claim form for that week cause it came with my last check). But on the top stub that came with this claim form it says the claim expires 1/8/2011?????
Can anybody help me with this PLEASEEEEEE

I received all my paperwork in the claim along with a new claim form. My benefits went from $288 per week, down to $231 per week. I'm assuming that it's based on the part-time work that I did all last year, and will continue to do it until I get a job. Hopefully soon!

rob24, i'm in the same boat as you, except i didn't receive any telephone interview notice. i did get form 1277. but it also says that it doesn't affect my claim for extended benefits.
i'm gonna mail them my claim form this sunday/monday and see what happens next. i hope i'm still able to collect from my second extension, and not the new claim that was filed. it doesn't make sense as to why i even got a new claim filed with a lower weekly benefit amount since i haven't worked.
EDD... fix your system!

Rob24--Sounds like your claim is in good order. If you never received a check for the last cont claim for you mailed out, I would mail out the new one ASAP (even if it seems like a duplicate). When I was on the phone interview, she said she I should ignore any other previous claim forms I had which were duplicates. Just mail it if it's part of your new claim year. (I would also re-read this thread as you will see most of us went through similar--getting all kinds of letters in succession, each seemingly saying difft things. Most of these you can ignore. If they now say you have a new claim that has been awarded, you *should* be good.
NOW, on that note.... I need to add more possibly DISTURBING notes about my own situation.
I thought all was good after my phone interview on Jan. 23 (last Sat.). The agent who called me honestly sounded like a 15 yr old valley girl, saying over and over how "confusing" this all is, and "oh my God, totally" this and that. I really want and wanted to have faith in her, regardless. She made it sound like all was good--she asked if I'd worked the first quarter of my last Unemployment claim year, and I said no, those were old commissions...and she said, "Oh! Okey doke, let me just put that right in here in the notes on your file!" And she said she was looking at my claim form/check RIGHT THEN, and she'd be sending it right away (adding, "OMG, I HAVE to send this, like, RIGHT AFTER we hang up"--like she was already worried she might possibly forget????) She did say ignore the random one-week benefit claim form that happened to arrive that same day as our phone call... She said it was a duplicate and she was sending one out that was not only for that ONE week, but for TWO weeks....
I asked repeatedly if this meant, for sure, that I would be seeing a claim form AND CHECK by the end of this week, and she said yes, no worries...."oh my gawwwwd" etc.
I *really* hoped that I would see something come in the mail TODAY, or by tomorrow at the latest. So far, nothing has arrived. (To put this in perspective, I normally mail my claim forms on a Monday, and then get the check on that Thursday. Since I didn't "mail" anything on Monday, but am just waiting for her to send my check, then I thought this would mean I'd probably get it by Wed. No such luck.
What scares me now is that I finally tried out that automated "Where's My Check" phone number today, and it says that, as of their records updated today at 6 a.m., my last payment was for week ending January 2nd!!!
WTF!
So I called the EDD (yes, I had to try a million times while usually getting the "Thank you" message, which means they will hang up on you, but the third time that I actually got the "Welcome to..." message, I was successful at getting that bypass code 130 to transfer me to a HUMAN.) Human was a clerk who only takes messages. I told him about my concerns, about the girl who was a complete space cadet, and about the message on their automated system saying there's nothing new in the mail.
He was genuinely concerned about what I told him re: that girl, and he eventually put me on hold to presumably discuss this with his manager--something they don't usually do, as they want to only take a message. He came back to the phone after about 5 minutes and had a change of attitude, decidedly hesitant to tell me anything one way or the other, and just said, "If that girl was a GOOD PERSON at all, then what she told you on the phone was correct, and you shouldn't worry about your claim form or check, just sit tight and wait."
So....Now we have to worry about whether our telephone agent MIGHT NOT be a "good person" and may NOT be "good for their word?"
I'm really nervous again. I asked him if he's saying that the automated Where's My Check info MAY NOT BE CORRECT/CURRENT. He got pretty defensive (like maybe he's being recorded) and said, "You did not hear me say THAT!"
oh god.
I'll update again with news as anything happens.
BTW the clerk taking my message said that once they fwd our phone msgs, it can take up to 5 business days for a response.

hey rob, mine was the opposite. i got the award letter (with a lower weekly benefit amount), which was followed by the determination letter. the determination letter said the new claim filed is invalid and that it wouldn't affect my extended benefits.
i'm supposed to send in my claim form (which was attached to my last check from my extended benefits claim) on sunday, and will wait to see what happens then.
hopefully i get a check, instead of a telephone interview notice.
