Special session next Thursday on how to proceed with Byrd's replacement..
I can't find the link anymore, but somewhere else I've heard this has to do with how to hold the eventual election (be it in Nov. or in 2012), not in the Gov. picking a current replacement. While that was a factor in picking a replacement, some sources think he might still pick someone on Monday or Tuesday as there's enormous pressure from both his fellow Democrats and Pres. Obama to do that.
It's too bad that there's no money for the unemployed to all camp out on the White House or in front of the Capitol, that would send a message.......

Not real sure on that...I thought I've read that there is no pressure from the White House on filling the replacemenet. The reason for the special session is to clarify the 2010 or 2012 election dates, I believe, as supposedly this will determine or be the deciding factor as to who he will put in Byrd's seat. Apparently if it's short term (couple of months) it may be one person vs. long term ( 2.5 years) as it may be someone else???
The thing that reallly pisses me off about that video is senator ben nelson is talking to the republicans getting all chumy chumy with them. I just emailed him again for the third time and ive also talked to his secretary and asked her why he single handedly shot this bill down. Her reply was he wanted to help the unemployed without adding to the deficit so then i pointed out to her that if they passed the republicans version in the senate that there was no way in hell the house would pass it,she had no response to that. Thats when i became aware that he is just like the republicans and he does not give a fck about the unemployed!!

We should all bombard Senator Nelson's office with calls. How about posting that number for easy access.
This is an important week coming up. We need to coordinate these calls and not let up this week in it's entirety.
