If they could detect our climate change and want to step in and stop us wouldn't it make more sense with that type technology they would have detected the use of Atomic weapons and stepped in then?
Environmentalists will grasp at any straws to advance their cause
FTFA: "A team of American researchers have produced a range of scenarios in which aliens could attack the earth, and curiously, one revolves around climate change."
So a bunch of eggheads sat around dreaming up "what if" scenarios. Fox News realizes one of them sounds awful familiar to a movie they once saw and runs an article about it. I'd like to hear the other, probably far more interesting scenarios they speculated upon.
I wonder if they thought about the death of a certain microbe wiping out life on Earth via the destruction of the food chain but some benevolent aliens decided to give us a glass of water with the extinct microbe in it. That'd be a good 'un.
I heard about this the first time when it was called a terrible remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Other scenarios discussed:
Aliens look like clowns and their spaceship is a circus tent. They have ray guns that shoot cotton candy that puts humans in a pod where they are in suspended animation.
Alien lands here that looks like a black dude, so of course he goes to Harlem.
Alien crash lands here and is a wise cracking furry little thing that likes to eat cats. Alien is hidden by suburban family and teaches them about themselves and about life.
A paper, written by three people, one of which happens to be a postgraduate doing an internship -- the individual not an employee, even, but an intern -- at NASA.
So Fox News lies and claims that this private speculation by a student, done on his own private time, is an official NASA position.
This is just silly. An extraterrestrial race that actually had the technology to get here would almost certainly have a much broader perspective on things.
It would be like wiping out termite mound for them. I highly doubt they would be so concerned as to wipe out humanity just to save one tiny rock among uncounted trillions (which are being formed and destroyed constantly, BTW).
I imagine they would see human activity here as natural, and since I believe they are actually around watching us at least occasionally, the fact that we only occasionaly see weird lights/objects in the sky to to mark their passage means they belive in the "hands off" approach. Otherwise, we'd be slaves or snacks already.
An extraterrestrial race would have to live a very long time, traveling at a puny percent of the speed of light to get here.
Or they could travel faster...
Or the individuals arriving could be the descendants of those who began the journey...
