I've had some odd things happen over the past 10 years but just recently activity has really picked up. Looking back, I think attracted something even longer than 10 years but the signs were very subtle.

Just to give you the quick version, my husband and I moved into our house in 2013. My parents gave us an old piece of furniture from England with heavy brass handles. After a couple of months, I would wake up at night and as soon as I would be awake, the handles would flick up and make a loud noise. Pretty soon it started doing it at least once a month, I tried to test all sorts of theories on how this could happen but one night I made sure all the handles were down...that night I woke up and one of the handles knocked 3 times! OK that freaked me out. My husband is a very heavy sleeper, he's heard it before but usually sleeps through it.

So screw that! I put socks on the handles. Great idea because nothing happened for a year, then it started happening on other furniture in the bedroom. Pretty soon socks were on everything! You should have seen the look on my cable guy when he came into the bedroom to fix our cable box.

A couple of months go by and I meet a friend, told her my story and she told me that she would do a cleansing of that room. It was interesting to watch her because she said you not only have to tell it to leave but open the door to the room and make like your are escorting it out. Then she went a step further and open the front door and asked it to leave.

I took the socks off and for 3 - 4 years nothing happened. It was awesome.

Then one night it started again. I got mad, yelled and opened the bedroom door to get the hell out...I should have open the front door too. 30 minutes later, we hear glass breaking, we open the door and one of the glasses from our wine rack that hangs the glasses upside down came off the rack. Not only came off the rack but was thrown across the room. It was mad. Tried to go back to sleep and heard an odd noise like an aerosol spray going off. Next morning there is a sunscreen spray bottle on our coffee table. We did not put it there, it came from our guest bathroom.

So, socks back on again. Nothing happens for 4 years and I get lazy and the socks start to come off the furniture. So now these next events have occurred in the past 2 weeks... and sure enough around 2:30am (it ALWAYS happens between 2:30-4:30am) the handle flicks really loud right after I wake up. It's like it knows right when I'm awake. I get mad, wake up my poor husband and then try to go back to sleep. The next day I do the whole, "get out of my house" thing again and make sure all the socks are on the handles.

That next morning, I wake up around 5:30am and can't go back to sleep so I decide to make some coffee. I open the bedroom door and I kid you not, there is an orb hovering like around waist high right in front of me! It's a dull white but the inside has a bright blue and some pink in it. I'm thinking it's a reflection but it disappears and I can't find anything that would have created this illusion.

SO, this just happened to me last night...my husband has to work a night shift rebooting servers and I'm all alone. Craziest night of my life! It started around 12:30am with glass clinking. I can't tell where the sound is coming from. As soon as I start to drift off, I heard weird noises. So odd, I have no clue what is making that sound. I hear something scraping along my bathroom floor. All noises are coming from the bathroom. Then I hear an aerosol spray sound at least 3 times. Then I feel a cold breath on my face along with something touching my face and my arms. After a couple of hours of this I decide to sleep in the guest bedroom.

I'm so exhausted right now and I'm starting to see whatever this is, it's picking up activity. If I don't stop it or get rid of it soon my sleeping days are over. I thought about getting sage and doing a cleansing. Any other advice??? I don't feel like it's demonic but this is really getting old and I want it gone!

I don't know where you are or what resources are in your area, but you might try googling the following groups:

1. Local ghost hunters - many often work with a psychic.
2. Local Catholic church - see if there are any elders will to come out and pray with you - or Baptist. Whatever tradition you follow or has elders who take stuff like this seriously.
3. Local witch/shaman - someone with a proven record of cleansings

Another suggestion: are you being "gas lighted"? Does anyone have reason to mess with you?

I heard about this one computer geek who had a grudge against a person, so he "haunted" her. He broke into her house and set up various microphones and other electronic do-dads so she thought her dead relative had come back to haunt her. She ended up selling the house and moving, which was what the geek wanted.

Finally, make sure your mental health is 100%. When one isn't sleeping, it's possible to misjudge all sorts of situations. You may need to take a break for a few days, catch up on sleep, and then re-evaluate.

Good luck and keep us updated.

If it stepped up activity the night your husband wasn't home, I imagine nothing would stop it from following you into the guest room.

I wouldn't try to do a cleansing myself, if I were you. Call the person back, who did the first one.

Thanks guys! I knew I count on this group.

Yeah, I wish I could get in touch with my friend who did it years ago but she moved and we lost touch. However, I totally forgot that my husband's cousin is very sensitive to spirits. We met for lunch today and I told her the whole story and she's coming over tomorrow night. She's had to clean her house before and knows how to do it.

As far as gaslighting...wow that's really awful someone would do that. I'm pretty confidant that is not happening to me. We have a tight security system and only my parents and best friend have the key to our house. Plus it's been going on forever, someone would have to be pretty dedicated!

Mental health, I know that I'm tired and believe me I'm looking for any reason for this NOT to be a ghost. But last night had me really scared. I could usually blow it off and not think about it but all those things happening at once was the last straw. I'm pissed.

Tonight my husband will be home! Plus I plan to use ear plugs and close the bathroom door. Wish me luck!

Will keep y'all posted.

"Beginning to hallucinate is among the more common symptoms of sleep deprivation." Source: https://www.verywell.com/can-sleep-d...ations-3014669

Note that hallucinating when you're sleep deprived is NOT a symptom of some clinical problem requiring treatment. The treatment for sleep deprivation is -- get some sleep.

"Depending on the length of sleep deprivation, approximately 80% of normal people in the population will eventually have hallucinations. Most of these are visual hallucinations." Same source as above

Appreciate the feedback, I'm tired today but not sleep deprived. This would mean I've been sleep deprived for over 10 years. And my husband has witness the activity.

Get rid of the piece of furniture from England. Sounds like that set it up.
If that doesn't work, the ''Dead Files'' team does home investigations or find a local paranormal investigation team with a psychic that can do a walk through.
I'm betting it's the furniture piece, though.

Right. That crossed my mind, but I got so caught up in the story, I forgot about it! You could consign it to an antique store, OP, and see if the owners report anything unusual.

Any audio or video of these things? I'd want to capture what's happening so I could understand what's happening. If not, U could start now.
