It was debunked on the History Channel show. Apparently, the "rods" only appear on digital video. They are just regular bugs and some aspect of the digital camera elongates them and makes it appear as if there are more than one set of wings.
On August 8/9, 2005, China Central Television (CCTV) aired a two-part documentary about flying rods in China. It reported the events from May to June of the same year at Tonghua Zhenguo Pharmaceutical Company in Tonghua City, Jilin Province, which debunked the flying rods. Surveillance cameras in the facility's compound captured video footage of flying rods identical to those shown in Jose Escamilla's video. Getting no satisfactory answer to the phenomenon, curious scientists at the facility decided that they would try to solve the mystery by attempting to catch these airborne creatures. Huge nets were set up and the same surveillance cameras then captured images of rods flying into the trap. When the nets were inspected, the "rods" were no more than regular moths and other ordinary flying insects. Subsequent investigations proved that the appearance of flying rods on video was an optical illusion created by the slower recording speed of the camera.[1] Cryptozoology
In 2012, the Malaysian independent newspaper Daily Express reported that a British "entrepreneur and avid traveller" named as "Matthew Lazenby @ ******" had recently "discovered" Rods in a cave in Sabah. The "flying rods" were said to be a "mysterious insect-like creature" living in the cave. Lazenby explained that "We don't even know if they were an insect specie [sic] or creature of some sort that holds an element of intelligence that interacts with other entities or animal species", but he intended to "capture" the Rods to find out. The newspaper reported that Rods have not been "physically and also not scientifically explained".[
Yes, they sped up the camera to take high speed footage and then when the frames were slowed down, things which looked like rods, were just insects.
They cannot say that about outer space stuff flying about though and no-one has offered a reasonable explanation. Look at the shuttle tether incident which had 'things' flying both sides (in front of and behind) of the long tether.

Actually, they used slow motion cameras to take those pictures. Rods do not show on high frame per minute cameras.
Like I said - look at the photo in my 2nd post above. See three dimensional shape and clear geometric design and "wings"? It all has VOLUME and shape to it. It ain't no "digital bug". Truly, looks more mechanical, than a living being, it is so geometrically well shaped.
