I do wonder if last night's weird event with my cell are just another in a long string of attacks from demons who want to make my life miserable as hell.

I was talking to my friend last night on my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone as I had done dozens of times. Suddenly in the middle of the conversation, the phone start giving off this loud shriek, kinda like the emergency broadcast signal, only higher pitched.

I thought it had something to do with the phone call, so I hung up immediately. The sound wouldn't stop. I turned down the volume, and it continued and the phone grew hot. WTF, I did the only thing I knew to do and powered off the phone completely. It stopped them. I turned it back on, and the phone was normal again. My friend told me that she didn't hear any sound. So weird because a loud shrieking noise in my ear is the last thing I wanted.

Back in 2002, I had a promising music career and became aware of an awful permanent condition called tinnitus. Ironically, I took measures to protect my hearing and was very careful with the amp volume on my guitar amp. Yet for some reason, one day I didn't notice that the volume knob was turned full blast until I started tuning the guitar. Apparently the sonic wave was so bad that it damaged part of my hearing, and gave me the very condition that I had wanted to avoid. Even worse, I discovered that along with the permanent ringing, I had high sensitivity to any loud noise. It causes real pain and discomfort as well as making the ringing louder and more intrusive. Sometimes it can take me days to recover. Therefore, a shrieking phone held right against my ear, not good at all!

And this isn't the first time that cell phones have done weird stuff. My last phone would constantly butt dial my boss number. This is the last guy on my contact list that I would want to call, and he was getting annoyed at me. Yet my phone would pick his name out of the list and dial it.

The weirdest thing happened last year when I had my coworker's contact info saved in two different phones. It is very important that I don't lose their numbers. One day, I discovered that somehow my phone had reset their numbers to the Lazy Boy furniture store number which I had never stored in my phone and only called once. Ok, no problem, I'll just get their numbers from the contact info I had on my old phone. I hadn't used this phone for awhile, and it was completely disconnected from any kind of data or voice service. I was stunned to see that their contact numbers had been changed to Lazy Boy store on the old phone as well! I had no choice but to ask my coworkers for their numbers the next day which was embarrassing.

Could there be a logical explanation here? There's a lot of other weird stuff that keeps happening to me. Mostly minor, but really irritates me. Like when I am in the men's room and some other guy is there at the sink, the automatic paper towel dispenser refuses to work for me and I feel like an idiot. It always works for me when I'm alone. So I walk out with wet hands and I hear the dispenser work just fine for the other guy.

When I used my phone as a GPS device when I was driving, it was giving directions like normal, but then seemed to get flustered when I didn't make a turn it told me to do. It said in rapid succession "Turn left, turn right, make a U-turn!" And then a completely DIFFERENT voice came on and started giving directions. And then it went back to the original voice and I never heard that second voice again. There were three of us in the car and all of us heard it and looked at each other. I then named my phone Sybil. Nothing like that ever happened again. It was weird!

I blame the NSA.
On second thoughts, I blame Canada.

Recently in the past few months I have been receiving those loud shrieking sounds on a couple of occasions on my phone too. Come to find out they were amber alerts or emergency weather warnings. They are very obnoxious alerts for sure.

I would get a new phone and hope things get better. Or try sprinking holy water on your phone or take your phone with you to church/temple or any religious institutuion.

I could always be wrong, but I don't think an inanimate object such as a cell phone can be possessed by an animate being, or a spirit.

When I had my iPhone, it "ghost-dialed" everyone on my favorites list one night while I was asleep, around 1:30 am my time. My parents, friends, grandma, doctor, CVS pharmacy and the Apple Store all got voicemail messages of my fan blowing. (Nice to know in case of emergency, everyone will ignore my calls. )

I've since switched to Android (also Galaxy S3) and no weirdness, so far...

Op, check your phone to see if you have an emergency weather alert app or something like that. That could be the cause of the shrieking. My phone started getting really hot and would not turn off once. It turned out that it was running the videocam app continously and the battery was overheating. The phone would not turn off and got so hot it was burning me. I removed the battery to stop it before the phone was totally toasted. The battery was shot at that point and had to be replaced. Phones do weird things, no demons involved.
