Hello there, I need to share with you friends some images of mysterious stone carvings found recently in Chengdu, Southwestern China. The carvings appear orderly, and although the symbols do not look like ancient Chinese characters, they do appear to represent other worldly phenomena. Some of the symbols look a little like these I found: http://austinstar.hu...d-Rock-Carvings
A single stone slab was found by workers and is now in my possession. My personal belief is that it may be one of many! possibly having religious significance... but i'm at a loss as to its origin. i'll try and attach some images below. Any help or ideas about their origin or signifiance would be much appreciated!
Mr Zhou
Very interesting find. Lots of circles and half circles, and graph like lines perhaps for reference of measurement. I think it's linked to planetary bodies and an Ancient astronomers map. Nice photos and post!
Stone worker here as a hobby for 20 plus years. These are very recent works, as in like a few days old. LOL. He didn't really say he was trying to pass them off as ancient or old, but it is implied. Looks to me like some bored Chinese construction worker doodled in some wet masonry.
Looking closely at the symbol in the lower right corner of the bottom photo, it looks like the top horizontal line in the symbol is raised on its top edge, as though it were pressed into a soft medium like clay rather than carved. Some of the other symbols in the bottom image look to me like they have raised edges, too. If one slab was found, why does the bottom slab appear so different from the top one?
Yeah the top one appears to be drawn in wet concrete or mortar, as some of the figures have little edges that are raised above the rest of the surface, just like when you write your name in wet cement. The bottom one is clearly modern because the large semi-circular swirls on the outer edges are clearly marks left by a large rock saw used in slab cutting. Look at the back of granite slabs for counter tops to see similar marks. Nothing mysterious here except why someone is posting this on this forum....
ETA: Okay now I see that these are actually 2 pictures of the same slab. The first picture is just covered with wet dirt or sand and then it has been smeared away in the center.
