My Uncle died Xmas morning. What I did NOT know was that HIS mother died 25yrs earlier on Xmas morning. A few yrs later, after his death, his 2yr old granddaughter (that is another thread of a sad sad subject) died on CHRISTMAS MORNING!

Every yr, at the Holiday times, I look at my cousins, and think.... 'sucks to be you!'.

I just remembered another one. I don't know what the date is, but a great-aunt of mine who was up in years was not feeling well and called her daughter to take her to the ER, where the doctor said he'd meet her. She'd had an older sister who had already died. In the car on the way, she remarked, "Isn't it funny? Pearl died exactly five years ago today." And that was the last thing she said. She was dead before they got to the hospital.

My 401(k) is safe; my dad passed away yesterday at 11:00 p.m. EST. He had been in declining health for years, though, so this is a blessing in disguise. (I'll respond to other comments soon; I'm feeling a little overwhelmed emotionally at the moment.)

Wow! That's crazy. And I'm so sorry about the 2-year-old.

That's interesting that she thought this at that precise moment, and it happened to be the last words she ever spoke.

By the way, did I say four people in my family died in February? I missed a fifth one - a cousin who died in February, 2007! All of these people were on my dad's side.
