My least favorites:

1. Aliens

2. UFOs

3. Anything that involves some kind of bizarre conspiracy that touches on the paranormal, like a government cover-up of UFOs for example.
Some of the "witchcraft" area does hold interest for me. Curses, spirit talking, signs, that warn us of evil presence and such. The Haitian and LA Mambo VooDoo kinda spooks me. Very dark stuff. Boko Ria. Black magic. American Indian magic , greatly, interests me. Having , sort of, seen it at work, has kept my attention. Certain werewolf lore is an area too. Not so much with vampires, but shape shifting powers is a very cool thing. Though, usually not associated with benevolent powers.

I've been tracking predators all my life. To my buddy, and other...acquaintances..of his, the coyote, and relatives, ate the trickster gods of the sagebrush and hills. Like Loki, in Norse mythology. Whilst trailing stock killing cat, the hunt has been stopped, cold, by my friend. And I listened. Certain signs mean don't proceed. I learned., early, not to call this mumbo jumbo. I don't see things like he does, not always, never will. But, I know enough to listen to him when he does see, or hear, or smell things.

The cryptids spook him all to Hell. Not coydogs , but...other..things. I haven't seen him in some months, but , when I do, I'm gonna run some of this Southeastern/Midwestern stuff by him. See how it compares to our Great Basin stuff. I have no plans of hopping a flight , with a day pack and a camera , thinking to track these animals. Seen to much and know way better.
Tell me what is a tso ape?

Great post about what you buddies sees as sign. Some many will want to say that all it is is mumbo jumbo. You have seen the difference but others cannot. I don't disbelieve what you are saying one bit. They will never see or experience this type stuff unless you get out there for yourself.

There are quite a few people that have talked about being escorted out of a area of activity by the BF's. You can't see them but by sound or smell but you know they are there.

Tso Ape means "ghost". Loosely translated, as I said, not sure about my spelling but its pronounced "so apay". ""Hape'" is an adjective" that imply spirit power. The word for coyote is "izhape'". and, again, loosely, means "trickster spirit". Coyotes are a rather...regarded..animal. My friend is Shoshone, BTW. He grew up on the Te Moak rez, up by Battle Mountain. He has a PhD in range management and an associates in wildlife biology too. Lol, but that hasn't killed his upbringing and common sense.

I can't keep up with him on foot. Never could. I prefer to go afield with him on horseback. There I have a chance. I'm actually a little better in the saddle. But, I ride cavalry, he rides western. The weight of the tack gives me an edge. Lol.

A couple things he taught me to be "superstitious" about: An owl, in the daylight. A coyote, trailing us. Ravens, flocking us. Coyotes yipping, in daytime. And the smell thing. Out of nowhere, a rank, putrid, dead thing smell. Enough to make you gag. But no dead thing anywhere around, in open ground. Sure, all "scientifically explainable". Not taking chances.

I only know some about the smell here in the Midwest and Mid south and south. The Bf's can emit it at will
I think i smelled it one time driving from Arkansas into Oklahoma. Why they do it i don't know.

Thanks for the things to look out for.

Great list!

I love the mystery of Oak Island. Have you been watching the show "Curse of Oak Island"? When they did the sonar and it showed that huge space buried below with large chests...so exciting! I've been following this story for over 10 years.

Anyone watch Paranormal Witness? There are some really great stories on there. What I love is that there are numerous witnesses, pictures, videos and some really bizarre stories.

I saw one the other night and it was all about Harpies. This thing posing as a child but wasn't one...very creepy.

Great thread BTW.

The dead thing smell. I can't, accurately, describe it. Versatile. I've smelled plumb DEAD critters. Bloated gassed and leaking. That's what it smells like. We were nowhere near BF country. This was in the Grey Hills, close to Mason Valley. Base of Bald Mountain, in the Wassucks.

My Buddy said," sh**!!! I said..we're gone! The dogs and the horses seconded the motion. Actually, they tabled it. They picked up on things a bit before we did. Like I said..all "explainable". At a later date, somewhere else.

Several years ago i read about a woman in Arkansas that had cattle just west of Fort Smith. She was 92 years old and was from a very well known family and was very lucid. She was checking her cattle and one or two hyena looking type critters came at her and she jumped into the truck and got out of there. One even slammed into the side of the truck and dented the door. The next day she took a friend along and they got out of the truck and saw the same critters. She had a .22 rifle with her but thought thy were to big to be shot with a .22 rifle. I have looked and looked and cannot find the link.

That is the story as i remember it.

I have been. I thought I would instantly love the show, but the start and stop nature and hyped up reality TV-ness of it has turned me off a bit. I am waiting/hoping it will end up on Netflix and I can binge watch it.

If it's because they "refuse to follow the light" don't you think that, at some point, scaring the hell out of people would lose its appeal and they would "move on?"

Ghosts don't concern me in the least, but the idea that one could be converted into a ghost upon death is terrifying.
I think of most ghosts as residual energy - not as people's souls converted to ghosts. Something violent happenes, a piece of energy is left behind that repeats path or event over and over - but there's not any sentience or consciousness to it. But I'm not saying that it isn't possible. IF anything more then that is going on, then I believe it to be a demon.

Or something. I've never seen a "ghost", nor any sort of ethereal apparition. Your thoughts that more "conscious" happenings are possibly "demons" , interests me. The spirit related type things I have experienced manifested in smells, sounds, and feelings. Such as a static electric thing, where all the hair on my body stood up and my skin tingled.

All but one, such experience, was always in a very remote area, as well. The exception was a very old building, long abandoned, on a military base. What I have come to believe, is, that certain places have a power about them. Just what that "power" is, well, that's a conundrum I've struggled with. I was told these things are warnings. Don't proceed further, lest it becomes, to coin a phrase, more than a feeling. Leave, and don't disturb or , especially, take anything from there.

What sort of energy do you think this might be? I've had it "explained", such as it is, that power(s) protect these places, but why they , it, whatever, chooses to do so is not known or questioned. It just is. Thoughts?
