This was old news from 2013, but I still wonder about it. Was he faking or really had amnesia?

From what I understand there are about a half-dozen legitimate cases of this kind of thing happening.
Speaking Foreign Language After Coma

There's also this:
Foreign accent syndrome - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I hope I live to see the day when someone wakes up speaking fluent Gothic.

From the link it appears that while this is an interesting medical story, there is nothing supernatural about this.
He has amnesia, a known medical condition and the speaking Swedish could have a very simple explanation...
"Authorities are still unsure of his birthplace, listed on his ID as Florida - photos show him in Sweden at a young age."

Nothing unusual about being bilingual... from what I understand, each language a person speaks is laid down independently in the neurons of the brain. If one path becomes too damaged to function, the other path might still be just fine.

Just found this report. He was found dead in his apartment more than a year ago, believed to be suicide. Sounds like a sad life story.

I wonder if they ever start speaking some ancient, extinct language, or if it's always a modern language?

If they started speaking some ancient Aztec or Nordic language that went extinct 3k years ago, I would be impressed.

There is an alleged case of a young woman who started speaking ancient Hebrew. Where could she have picked that up from? It is possible she studied it. That part would have been left out of the reports as it would have negated the 'miracle' that it was claimed to be. Then again, it could be a hoax.

Still wondering. Haven't seen any clue and may never, since he's dead.

Cases like these are fascinating. But yes, I don't see much cause for a supernatural explanation. Scientists are still figuring out how our brain works, and they have barely scratched the surface.

But hey, if you're going to wake up speaking a new language, why not Swedish?
