A few years ago I was browsing in an antique store in Toronto. I found a tattered old album of photos from the late 1800s, and as I was flipping through the pages, a lock of hair fell out. I knew I had to buy it and look after it. The pictures were clear and beautiful of an age long gone. Over the next few months I became obsessed with finding descendants of these people so I could return the album to its family.

From a photographer's stamp, I was able to determine the name of a small town in Ontario, about 120 miles north west of Toronto. I made phone call after phone call, and my journey put me in touch with so many interesting people, all of whom knew something about this family. After a few red herrings and some mis-information (the internet was brand new at the time, so was useless).. I found the descendants of Bessie, the owner of the photo album.

My husband was vaguely aware of my new 'hobby' but wasn't at all interested. When I told him I'd found the owners, and would he like to come for a drive with me to deliver it to them, he wasn't exactly thrilled at the idea of meeting a group of strangers but he did come along. He told me that his grandfather, a minister, had actually lived in a town close to the one we were going to, so he was sort of curious to see the area. That helped.

Imagine our surprise when it was discovered through chatting, that my husband's grandfather had been the minister to perform the funeral service for Bessie, owner of the album.

I lived on the east coast and was on a fairly regular business trip to San Francisco but was staying at a different hotel for the first time. I took the cable car to the other side of the city for dinner then walked to the Buena Vista, opposite the cable car turnaround, for an after dinner drink, sitting near the middle of the bar, next to a very attractive blonde woman. A group of men and women who had been in the back room passed behind me and went across the street to get on line for the cable car.

Meanwhile, I finished my drink and went downstairs to the men's room, not seeing the group come back in. Another patron said it would be twenty minutes until the next cable car left and it was a cold night so I had another drink (stlll sitting next to the same woman) during which time the group again walked past me and left to wait for the cable car. I followed them a few minutes later and when the car was ready for boarding, I took a seat inside while the group sat or stood in the outside section. Over the hills, across the city to the hotel a block before the end of the line. As I got off and walked towards the entrance, someone called "hey, hey you in the tan jacket!" It was my brother, who lives in Texas.

He was staying at the same hotel, the same night, had drinks in the same bar, walked past me two or three times at the bar and noticed the blonde woman right next to me, waited on the same cable car line, rode the same cable car and didn't see me, or me him, until we were at the hotel. What kind of odds would the bookies place on that happening?

I prayed for God to help me with my finances.
  • My Bible teacher started a series on Personal Finance. He emphasized having an extra fund available to help others in case they needed, say, a set of tires. (as if)
  • Next came a GREAT little seminar-type thing which included finances.
  • THEN came a Crown Financial Ministries seminar.
And I kept praying for help with finances throughout all this time. I guess God figured I was a hard learner, like the easy stuff he already gave me wasn't helping so... in about 2 month's time
  • My microwave broke
  • My computer crashed
  • Lightning hit my house and took out my TV
  • My car was totaled
  • A tree fell on my house
That's when I woke up and started learning. A bunch of us were heading off across the country for 6 weeks of training. I was determined to drive. A friend gave me a Ford Escort that needed a new motor. I paid her for the new set of tires she had just installed. That plan fell flat so I made plans to scrap the free car and began searching for a different car.

In the mean time I had a friend with an Escort who was going for training. I asked him if he needed anything for his car because I had one I was going to scrap. He saw the car and hesitated, then said "I really need tires" He was shocked when I told him they were his - He had actually been praying for tires, he didn't know how he was going to afford them. He took the car and I provided him tires! Wow, God is good BUT...

I located an awesome Mazda 6 for about 8K. (It lasted many years) Once financing was in place (a miracle in itself at that time of my life) I rushed to pick it up before closing. I got there with minutes to spare and the man said "Yeah, you can get it today if you want, but we were going to send it out in the morning for a new set of tires."

I seriously know this was not coincidence. But it was pretty supernatural!

This happened last week: A technician from my internet provider was due at my home and I opened the front door so the house would appear occupied. Later, I heard a noise which sounded like someone was there, so I went to the door. The provider's vehicle was parked at the curb, but a person was not in sight. I presumed he went around to the back since I was slow getting to the front. But, no sign of anyone in back. I went back to the front door. The truck was parked to the right of my lawn and I couldn't see the driver's side. I kept expecting the vehicle to drive off and was very upset that he'd come to the door, then apparently disappeared.

It was awhile before the phone rang and it was the technician. I told him I was at the door. He got out of the truck and came in the house. I commented about his knocking, then going back to his vehicle. He said, "Maam, I didn't come to your door and knock. I had paperwork to do after my last call and then I phoned you. The wind is blowing strong, so maybe it made the noise at your door."

I realized he was probably right and it was only a coincidence. I know it doesn't seem like anything abnormal, but it was creepy to me that he seemed to disappear.

I am an 11'er too! My first 1111 experience was in Girl Scouts. I was in junior high, joined a cadette troop and the troop number was 1111. So I started out wearing the 1111 badge.
Since then 11:11 has been all round me.

When my husband and I were first married, we worked for the same supervisor. We didn't have a good experience working for him (he was using company equipment and supplies to do side jobs and wanted us to participate). I don't remember either of us mentioning him after we left that job, other than maybe the first month or two. Eight years later, we were going to the hardware store to get a Christmas tree stand and we just suddenly started talking about our old boss out of the blue. We walked into the store and there he was. He didn't look like life had treated him well over the years.

The weirdest by far was when I was trying to find a place for my mother's ashes. I had kept them for ten years because I put her up in a closet and forgot about her. I still own the house my brother and I grew up in and I was just finishing up before the new tenants moved in. It was a rainy night and I decided to bring my mother's remains with and scatter her in a garden at the school where she worked. It was raining so hard at the time and there was something going on at the school and I couldn't get close to the garden. I was standing in the drive way of the house holding my mother's ashes when this truck pulled up. Someone called my name and as I got closer to the truck there was this man that looked exactly like my father! Mind you my father had passed nearly a decade before. It was my brother. I hadn't seen him in about ten years, and had no idea where he lived, nor had his phone number. We talked briefly and I scattered my mother in the back yard. I haven't seen or spoken to him since. Nor do I want to!

When I was 12, I moved to a new town. On the first day of school, I met a girl at my bus stop that looked a LOT like me. The other kids asked her if I was her sister. We got to school and realized we were in the same home room (home rooms were organized alphabetically, her last name started with K, mine with J). We became friends.

Over time, we realized these coincidences about our lives:

Her mother and I shared the same birthday.

My birthday was March 11th, my friend's was July 11th.

When I was 16, my brother was born on her brother's birthday (coincidentally, also on my father's birthday. My brother was my mom and stepdad's son, though).

She and I lived 3 blocks apart, but a few years later, her family moved to another house, 3 blocks from me the other direction. Her new house had the exact same 4 digit address as mine did.

We were asked if we were sisters everywhere we went for the 12+ years of our best friendship.

When I was about 12 or 13 years old, we lived in Conn along Long Island Sound. We had two dogs that we took the beach who LOVED it. One time when we got to the beach, as the car door opened, one of the dogs bolted out and started chasing the seagulls. It was low tide so he would swim out to where a gull was camped on the water and when he got about two feet away or so, the gull would move just a bit. We found the dog about 3 miles down the beach.

Anyway, now that the dog was safe & sound, we noticed that he had lost his collar his odyssey. They had rock piers going out into the water. I went out on one of them and I was looking around thinking maybe the collar could have washed up there. I noticed some guy walking out on the pier. I must admit that I was a bit nervous because I didn't know this person and I couldn't get back to the beach without passing him-unless I jumped in the water. I remained calm and started walking back. When I reached the guy he said to me, "Is this what you are looking for?" And he holds out his hand with the dog collar in it. How did he know? I could have been looking for shells, or rocks, or whatever. Maybe he had seen me with the dogs. Maybe he had heard of our dog's epic swim. Don't know.

This one isn't my story.

My dad & his girlfriend at the time took a trip to England. They decided to take a side trip to Paris to see some exhibit there. When they got there, it was REALLY crowded. You couldn't find anyone in the crowd if you were looking for them. My dad bumped into a woman and he turned around to say "Excuse me" and he was faced with HIS SISTER! Neither knew the other one was going to be there. So you can say that everyone and his (or her) brother(s) (or sister(s) ) were there-LITERALLY!!! So the 4 of them (my dad, his girlfriend, my aunt, & uncle) went out to dinner in Paris.
