We are living in a giant hologram, and everything we see around us is merely a projection of a two-dimensional surface.
This is the bizarre theory put forward in 1997 by physicist Juan Maldacena, who was able to prove its existence in equations that only partially explain our universe.
Now researchers in Austria have, for the first time, been able to show how this strange holographic principle can also work in a more realistic model of our cosmos. [more]

Holography is a science but we keep being told scientists have got it all wrong and are not to be trusted. Seems like they are trying to keep the truth from us!

Well unless you can 100% explain the universe, you cant say this might not be true!!

Right. But see the difference. Scientists haven't PROVED anything. They have realized they cannot DISPROVE the possibility.
See the difference?
And this is nothing new by the way. Descartes wrestled with this over 300 years ago.
In short, some scientists have come to the conclusion that philosophers and theologians and mystics have been telling them for centuries: Science is NOT the be-all and end-all of human knowledge. Science is fantastic, but it has its limits. It cannot explain everything.

Geezus if I had a dollar every time I've read "scientists prove" or "computer models show" etc....
Mankind had gotten aware of the Universe/Multiverse maybe 300 years ago and we think we can comprehend it?
Man the gullibility of people stopped amazing me decades ago...

There's also a theory we are all but a speck of dust on a button in a distant giant universe.

I for one am grateful for all the crazies in the world. Crazy people like Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla and Jack Parsons. I am grateful to those who are madly passionate and curious, and are willing to think outside the box. I am glad that not everyone is so close minded, cynical and ready to ridicule others, because if everyone was like this we might still be living in the stone age. The greatest inventions and discoveries are made by the "crazies", so thank God we have people who are willing to be crazy.
