Dr. Brian Greene, writer of The Hidden Reality: Parallel Universes and the Deep Laws of the Cosmos has faith that this freakish side of nature may exist;
Faith? Shouldn't that be under the Religion sub-forum? Besides, it's been proven (mathematically - or so we are told) that our universe is merely a 2-dimensional hologram which makes us just an illusion. Mind you, that would make parallel universes fit in just fine, one layered on top of the other. In an illusional sort of way.
Come to think of it, this is the right Sub-forum for this.
We can now test "parallel universes" but scientists can't even cure hearing loss/deafness, blindness or cancer yet? Yep sounds like the priorities are set straight.
tell ya what, let's get men "back" on the moon first, see if we can do that or not
for real this time, before we trust what these eggheads say about parallel universes, mmm-kay?

Really good point! They want to enter parallel universes, travel through time, create wormholes but we cant solve medical problems such as the ones you mention and we have people struggling with no roofs over their heads and a rapidly growing rich/poor gap that gets bigger all the time.
Also these "extreme" experiments like trying to open doorways could have consequences even on the off chance they succeed. Like the movie "The Mist." I think They will find Jimmy Hoffa before they jump into another dimension though.
