Trying to communicate with spirits I understand but what about audio recording without asking questions. I have DVDs of haunting TV shows, I noticed in the back it says demons and angels, fallen angels, in some of them with scary looking designs of angels on them, could this be considered inviting spirits to my house? Could it be possible that objects can be cursed so people who have these DVDs will start experiencing the paranormal?

The more you open to spirits the more they can come around, yes.
And that is all I will say...bec as a rule I do not innocently, stupidly open
to them any more...as I did in my 20s.

If ghost hunting paraphernalia stirred the interests of ghosts, I would have a village of them in my home. So I don't think that being in possession of a DVD with symbols on it would be an invite.
Now actively calling them, in what ever form, be it speaking to them, a spirit board, or what have you, then that would catch thier attention.
I don't know which way it goes with just having a recorder going passively. Maybe they know your intentions, maybe they don't.

Now there are mostly good ghosts, malicious ghosts that can cause havoc are not as common, so to really worry about them should not be that big of a deal. However, knowing how to handle a malicious ghost is a good thing to know and prepared for. And remember, you are more powerful than they are.

I need to strongly disagree with the last sentence in your post.
That is not true from my experience with spirits.
Bob.

Yup. To the OP, if by "ghosts" you mean the spirits of the departed, those are actually quite rare to encounter. But they're not the only ones out there.

The best advice I ever saw on this was actually from a fiction book, The Dragonbone Chair, by Tad Williams, where one of the characters (local wizard Morgenes) is giving his young apprentice some advice. It seems to apply here:

“Let me put it another way.” Morgenes twined a curl of snowy beard around his finger. “I spoke to you of traps, of searching for knowledge as though hunting an elusive creature. Well, where I and other knowledge-seekers go out to our traps to see what bright beast we may have been lucky enough to capture, Pryrates throws open his door at night and waits to see what comes in.” Morgenes took the quill pen away from Simon, then lifted the sleeve of his robe and dabbed away some of the ink that had smeared on Simon’s cheek. “The problem with Pryrates’ approach,” he continued, “is that if you do not like the beast that comes to call, it is hard – very, very hard – to get the door closed again.”

I was young when The Exorcist came out and it seemed every one knew someone who knew someone who knew someone this had actually happened to or had a uncle who exorcised something.

And it was scary to us kids in church.

And that's exactly what our minister said to us. Don't open the door to stuff like that and it won't come knocking...

This definitely has a lot of the typical TV show sensationalism, but it is on topic:
