Hi cachibatches. VERY interesting story, IMO, as I have one with several similar tangents.

It was probably close to 20 years ago ... my mom was fighting with her first bout with cancer, and she was not on the winning side, it seemed. She was frail, ashen, and weak, and spent most of her time in bed.

One evening, while I was visiting, I went and sat with her for awhile, and had a bit of conversation. During this chat, she brought up something completely out of the blue. She looked at me, and said, "if anyone ever tells you you need dental implants, DO NOT DO IT"! At first, making light of it, I asked where THAT came from. But she was emphatic about it, and repeated herself sternly ... "DO NOT do it"!

Well, that stuck with me. So, about 7 years later, when a dentist recommended that I think about replacing a couple of teeth with implants, I veered away, and told him the story. He felt I was being ridiculous, and for several years thereafter, never missed an opportunity to reiterate his recommendation, nor to poke some fun at me for my reluctance.

Well, just two years ago or so, I really needed to do something about my failing dental work, and I finally agreed to have an implant put in. The procedure went without a hitch, and I was laughing to myself about my superstitious behavior over the years, when, all of a sudden, I began having issues with diverticulitis. I wound up needing an operation, which the surgeon screwed up, which led to a second operation. The second operation also met with complications, and I needed to fire that surgeon and find a specialist.

The specialist ultimately managed to fix the problems, and I am currently on the mend. But this event has not been without some provoked thought. The specialist told me how close I had come to death. The first operations I had were amateurish and sloppy, and almost cost me my life.

So ... thinking back, was my mother able to peek into the future back then? Did she see medical issues in my future ... SEEMING to being precipitated by a dental implant?

FWIW, my mom managed to live for several more GOOD years after her "prediction". I brought it up with her many times over those years, and she could never even recall the conversation. It was almost as if she had been in a trance.

I think about this event quite regularly ... not really sure what to make of it. It DOES make me feel like there's a lot we don't know about the universe. I WHOLE lot!

Moms know their babies...no matter how old their baby is.
