I can't say that I believe in them, but at the same time, I cannot say that I disbelieve in them.
The world is a very fascinating and mysterious place, maybe anything is indeed possible.
I don't believe in them, but I choose not to -- it's like choosing not to look into the dark. If someone tells me I'm cursed, or that I have a cursed possession, I just don't believe that, so for me, it goes with how you think and what you choose to let in -- or not.
Live in the light, and this will never be an issue at all.
I think it seems to be true that people of strong faith - in whatever - seem to fare better and avoid these attachments. I suspect it is fear that attracts or feeds them so people with a strong 'faith' seem to be less fearful than the rest of us. Faith does not have to be religios but a belief in something which dispels fear of these energies.
However, it seems to be (again I use 'seems') a persitent thread through belief systems that 'prayer' or 'thoughts' are real energy constructs and these can have an effect on our physical reality. So why cant there be both positive and negative thought manifestations ? I mean, you cannot have energy manifesting without some kind of will behind it and if that will is negative or positive it will influence the nature of the created being.
My mother told an interesting story about the woman who put a curse on her house when she lost it. Not sure if it was a loan or taxes, but she was really angry. She cursed the house, property, the next owner and anyone who would ever live there. It may not have been the curse, but it worked. It was vacant for a few years until a slumlord bought it. It was the eyesore of the block.
My mother remembered it as a very nice home with with hardwood floors, beautiful woodwork, a nice kitchen for the time.
Years ago a young Haitian man showed up at my mother's door and called himself putting a curse on my then-divorced mom because she wouldn't go out with him, it ended with him telling her she would have many sleepless nights, blah, blah, blah. She laughed in his face, slammed the door and never had anything negative happen to her and enjoyed many restful nights.
I think if you actually believe in curses and so forth, you unconsciously see everything you do as indicators and scare yourself into believing that the negative mumbo jumbo is working.
I dunno. Anybody familiar with the stories of ''Peggy the Doll'' and ''Robert the Doll''?
Those will certainly give pause for reflection.
I have also known people who have lived in certain houses where ''nothing was right'' and bad things kept happening to them...until they moved out!
