This happens all the time; just reach down the back of the recliner seat, and fetch all of those "disappearing" items from that large, fabric-covered space. I've pulled books, keys, wallets, money, TV controllers, dolls, toys, etc. from that "black hole." Then there's the sofa...

My couch has a narrow gap between the arm and the base. Small things can slip down there.
My husband has the same routine, night after night after night. He undresses and puts his wallet, belt and glasses on top of our bedroom dresser. Never varies.
One morning he gets up and says, ""Where are my glasses?" They are nowhere to be found. We both searched behind the dresser, searched all table surfaces, jacket pockets, you name it.
Two days later I go into the den for about the 20th time since the glasses (old-fashioned, heavy metal, aviator type) went missing, only to see them sitting upright, arms extended, in the completely uncluttered expanse of carpet directly in my path. If they had been there before, I would have stepped on or over them.
P.S. We live alone except for a cat and dog. Even if our cat had knocked the glasses off the dresser, and our dog brought them to the den two days later, how could the glasses have ended up in the upright, arms extended position?
