Jewelry cleansing

Hi, i would like to ask for advice. I have some inherited jewels and some have birth stones. Now, i really do like 2 pieces, but have some doubts about wearing them.
I know it is not a good thing to wear someone else's rings because of the energy - especially if they have some birth stones or belonged to a person, who had sadly passed away. Are there any way to cleanse them so i could wear the rings? I have tried with blessed water but still feel the sadness every time i put on one of the rings.
