There are many who claim that the body doesn't need food, perhaps not even water for nourishment. They have their detractors, but so do all who refuse to follow the herd.

When my mom got old and couldn't deal with the results of her strokes and loss of eyesight, she deliberately stopped eating and drinking. Was gone in about a week.

It is scientifically provable that people need food and water to live. Of course most of us eat too much.

So Happy, are you thinking of trying to live on sunlight? Plants do that, but they still need water and nutrients from the soil.

I think that everybody has pretty much accepted the premise that when you get down to a sub-atomic level, everything that exists is simply a combination of neurons, protons and electrons coupled with a vibration/frequency. Presumably the people who are able to exist without consuming food or water have elevated themselves to a high enough vibration/frequency that they can assimilate energy via solar photons.

I'm sure it's possible in theory. I have never known anyone like this, but it's highly likely that they can and do exist.

OP, cases of people in the US claiming to not require food were debunked long ago. There was one in India, as well, that was debunked.

Suppose that the people who do this successfully aren't quite human but have been observed by others who supposed that they were, then tried it themselves unsuccessfully.

This is the only form of euthanasia that is permitted in all states. When there is no more hope you are transferred to a hospice where you die of starvation in about three days. Of course you are not in the best physical health when you entered because of strokes, broken hips, or other medical conditions. They claim that you feel no pain - of course 'they' are not in their patient's shoes. In many, maybe most cases, there is no brain activity at the time. So, I guess, that many of us will have an attempt to debunk this myth and all of us will fail!

The medical term is "passive treatment." I'm not sure if it's still used for infants who are hideously deformed, but it was standard practice.

There may be creatures, however, who could go long periods between meals without ill effects. These periods could be impossibly long by human standards but not by the standards of certain other species.

One such creature would be desert toads. They can bury themselves into the soft mud of a rare desert deluge, and can emerge as much as 20 years later, unscathed. The ability to regulate their heart and other organs to a very reduced rate
creates this situation. Many amphibians are capable of similar feats. (hibernation/aestivation)

If a human could slow their pulse and other needs of the body, perhaps they too, could do with less food/water.
Amphibians are thus studied for this and other many different reasons.

At least one mammal lowers it's internal temperature when it hibernates: BBC - Earth - Arctic ground squirrels' supercool slumber. Humans are not good at lower our temperatures or hibernating!

Eating food is now "following the herd?" Go ahead and try it and report back to us.
