I unplugged it. It has a pilot lite and requires a flame but still requires electricity, which spirits can tamper with electricity, from what I have read.
I have been watching this movie the past 2 nights also.
Maybe it opened up a spirit channel in my exitance?
My bf also died in April 2019 he had an alcohol curse
You don't give much in details. Since it's a heater, does it have a thermostat? If so, perhaps it just got to the temperature where it turned itself on. Or perhaps just some sort of electrical fault caused it to come on by itself. After all, it's 50 years old, and old electrical heaters don't usually last this long without issues.
No need to attribute this to spirit activity at this point.
This is not an issue with spirits, but may be a dangerous situation.
Theoretically, gas furnaces can work without electricity because the gas is still being supplied. However, there are safety controls that should ensure that it does not come on when no electricity. These safety controls may be out since your system is very old. The thermostadt, maybe some of the gas flow valves, are electricity controlled and with those not electrically drive it may involve some serious danger. I am not an expert but I would blow out the pilot light and turn off the gas to the appliance and/or call a technician as soon as possible, like NOW.
The rest of it - clearly you are watching a scary movie (Winchester - pretty well made movie by the way) and certainty that contributes to your belief that spirits are involved. Very common, confirmation bias again at work.
Also not sure what an "alcohol curse" is. My condolences. Again - we are talking about a very human condition, a disease if you will, not involving any spiritual (except the distilled type) intervention.
