I've occasionally had dreams of me getting into car accidents. It's always been some theme of me trying to stop my car to avoid hitting something in front of me but my car not stopping, then either me waking up or switching over to another dream sequence.

My first ever accident happened with me rear ending someone on the highway after trying like hell to stop my car. It had not rained at all during my drive but a stretch of wet road had possibly caused an accident up ahead, which I did not see. Traffic was moving on all lanes except for the vehicle in front of me which appeared to be driving slower.

When I realized the car had actually stopped because of the accident ahead, I tried to brake hard but my car ended up hydroplaning on the slick roads. Just like my dream the night before, my brakes had failed and I slammed into this car. Thankful no one, including myself, were injured.

What mystifies is that I had dreamed this sort of thing happening the night before...and even the day of I had thought about how I seem to have these recurring types of "accidents" where my car can't seem to stop.

I really don't know what to make of it. I'm a pretty logical person so even I'm skeptical that it could have just been one giant coincidence. I've had close calls but have always been an overall alert driver.

Has this sort of thing happened to anyone here? Any explanation as to what it means, if anything?

I call coincidence. What you're not taking into account is all the times you've dreamed of having a car accident, but it didn't happen.

And um, they're "brakes", not "breaks".

I was reading something recently about a theory that some of the things we think about, may eventually come to fruition, and this may be a function of our brain that we do not yet know how to really access or use, and when it does happen, its only coincidence or by accident.

I think there may be some truth to this, but not sure of the extent.

I had a dream of getting a flat tire and next day ran over a bit of metal sticking up from the pavement where a sign had been, and - yes - got a flat tire.

I highly recommend buying the book "Living Your Dreams" by Gayle Delaney. It was written over 30 years ago and is still the best book out there on dream interpretation.

BTW, if you're referring to the thing that stops your care, it's "brakes".

Here's a video with her doing some dream interpretation:

So would that be a bad break or a bad brake?

Difference between brakes failing and hydroplaning. Hydroplaning usually implies the brakes locked up and you are sliding on a wet surface, cause you don't know how to control the vehicle and pump the brakes or allow the ABS to do the job for you.
