You are right, its not accurate, but then again, I think most people that saw that, would agree, IT IS THE SUN that is being depicted (even though it has a big smiley face). Even you assumed it was the sun at first glance.

It could be they added the face to make sure the sun was not mistaken for some other type of craft they were seeing.

That was what I noted about the movie " Captain America, The First Avenger". The Red Skull's flying wing bomber, that was art imitating life. And did they maybe design it so that if witnesses described seeing a triangle craft like that, they'd be ridiculed for just having active imaginations and describing something they saw in the movies.
