Link to this inquisitr article

In 2016 this website along with others has a scary quote from Dr Paul Hertz Director of the Astrophysics Division in the Science Mission Directorate at NASA - if what is reported is true of course.
Quote:
“But every time we do one of these things with the press, inevitably you guys think it’s going to be about aliens. So I’ll let you in on a little secret. NASA literally will never hold a press conference announcing we’ve discovered aliens. Because we’re never going to discover aliens.”
Quote:
“You want an announcement about aliens? Here it is: Be careful what you wish for. If you guys knew even a fraction of the s*** we do, you’d never sleep again. I promise you that.”
Quote:
...It admits that NASA knows more than it has publicly admitted, a common talking point of “truthers” and those who believe that much of what NASA knows has never been revealed. But is it authentic? While we wait on confirmation or denial from Paul Hertz and/or NASA, it should be noted that, as reported by Space.com, this apocalyptic warning echoes that of astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, who recently reiterated his cautionary words uttered in 2010 of being wary of a first contact with aliens, especially aliens that will likely be far more technologically advanced than humans and not in any way disposed to greet us with best intentions.
So, (my bolded) Stephen Hawking believed this enough to say it more than once.

This Inquisitr article of course ends with the statement of fact we are supposed to continue to believe so that we can all sleep well at night in spite of the warnings by Stephen Hawking and others.
Quote:
Presently, there is still no empirical evidence uncovered by NASA or any other agency or individual on public record that suggests that alien life exists.
It seems that when a top official makes a gaffe or says something he/she should perhaps have left unsaid, there will never ever be a confirmation of it and so it will always be left in doubt so that it can be officially denied.

The public depends on people in a public positions to give us our reality, our view of the world, what we should believe. Perhaps it would be very irresponsible of anyone in this kind of position to say something which would cause unrest or to make people panic or feel nervous. On the other hand, you could argue that people have a right to know if their life is in danger and the authorities know about the threat. So I believe this was "an unofficial gaffe" made when he perhaps said something which should have been left unsaid. Kind-of "be careful of the questions you ask, because you may not be ready for the answer and it may disturb you"

More text of speech

Other stuff - So, within a decade...perhaps

It is strange how these guys are supposedly releasing snippits of information, sound bites, which hint at aliens. Maybe it is to keep folks interested or just to pull their chains as a source of amusement perhaps. If what he says is true, then maybe they dont have a clue how we can defend ourselves against a far-superior race of beings. Maybe this is one of the main reasons why we have not been told anything about what is going on?

People on this forum keep saying they would NOT freak out when presented with an alien life announcement, but... This is real, it has been reported back in 2016, so lets speculate for a moment what kind of stuff do they (NASA) know?

What kind of stuff would freak out the population if they were presented with the real facts by authoratative sources such as this?

Also from the article:

Quote:
While it is as yet unknown if Hertz actually made the statement, alien enthusiasts are running with it.
Quote:
Hertz allegedly states that aliens will find humans first, “and it won’t be pretty.” Insisting there wouldn’t be time for a press conference when first contact occurred, he noted that it would all be over “in a hot white flash in the sky and lights out.” After commenting on humanity’s immaturity, he goes on to state: “We’re basically infants and when the adults show up… it’s game over.” He says mankind would be better off to wipe itself off the Earth before the aliens show up to do it for us.

Dr. Paul Hertz has made it clear that the quote(s) and video circulating around in UFO circles are FAKE - he did not actually make the statement:

What Did the NASA Director Really Say About Aliens

Of course, UFO conspiracy theorists can always say he was coerced by the Illuminati (or NASA or the aliens) to change his tune.

There will always be people who come along and post here, wanting to smooth over the cracks in the armour. However, just like Roswell, the official story is changed very soon after the higher-up authorities realise what will be the longer term implications.

I did acknowledge in the first post that it was controversial and folks had to make up their own mind whether it was true, but it is the kind of thing which could have slipped out in an answer to a question at the end of a lecture. I imagine that somebody could have said later to Dr Paul Hertz "If you want to keep your job you have to offer a public denial" but that is just speculation.

OK, then. Prove that Dr. Hertz is lying (or distorting the truth) when he states flat out that he never made the statement in question - that he actually made the statement he's denying in his Twitter post. That means providing a primary source: a video of him making the statement, or an article from a reliable journalism outlet - a source reasonable people can view as trustworthy rather than a blog post or web page from the "alien enthusiasts" cited in the original article quoting other dubious sources.

This story is controversial and folks should make up their own mind in the same way the Flat Earth is controversial and folks should make up their own minds. Or the Cottingley Fairies. Or the Fiji Mermaid. Or jackalopes.

If there was ever a press conference about aliens, it would NOT be held by NASA, it would be NRO, CIA, NSA.

The NRO is most likely where these secrets are kept, or there is a separate unknown branch/ agency that specifically deals with this.

When National Security advisor Dick Damato discovered their identity, he called them a 'black arm' of the govt, and stated they had unlimited resources in maintaining this secret.

Do you have a verifiable source that D'Amato said this in a context other than a personal conversation with Steven Greer as Greer claims in his Sirius Disclosure writings and videos? The only other sources I've seen for this claim have been UFO conspiracy sites.

Steven Greer strikes me as more than a little woo woo. I can't decide if he genuinely believes the stuff if he spouts or if he's a huckster, but I lean toward the latter.

This is the Unexplained Mysteries and Paranormal forum, not the lies and ignorance forum. You even admit in this post that what you are posting may not be true but take the ball and run with it.

Why is this garbage even allowed here?
