They didn't know any better back then! Actually those were the days when people were naïve and believed everything. Just look at the old Popular Science and Popular Mechanics. Fifty years ago we were supposed to be all zooming around in our own personal flying cars. They might have been right but their time period was off a little! But many still believed that it would happen tomorrow and that was 50/60 years ago.

Yes; our news was corrupted years ago but competition produced the golden years of news as TV news became the norm. Those in power saw news as power and they assimilated everything that was good and turned it into garbage. Which is what we are basically left with now. Of course the delivery system has changed and that will be the key to the new 'news'. The question will be if the new baby works for us or if it works for its designers?

“She described it as a walking tree”, investigator Jack Smarr said after interviewing the woman.
The most relevant line in the article that would actually explain quite a lot. For many people, there is a moment of cognitive dissonance when your eyes see something the brain has no experience with. It’s a psychological construct of the Shapeshifter theory.

She describes it as a "walking tree" article says.

So my guess is that Treebeard escaped from Middle Earth.

Or a hunter in a ghillie suit

I think that Treebeard is a likely suspect. The woman did say it looked like a walking tree.

I like reading those old UFO stories though ... they are quite entertaining. I'll never get over the guy you see sometimes on TV that supposedly flew on a UFO to Venus, and at some point in his story-telling he mentione the word galaxy ... but pronounced it ga-LAX-y. Surely nobody believed him ....

Speaking of cars ... we now all zoom around quite rapidly, but for the most part stay on the ground; can you imagine how dangerous it'd be if we all had cars that actually flew?? I shudder to think about it. I don't think the fad would last long because we'd kill off the human race.

Last time I saw one of those, it was sporting a tophat and walking cane.

As Ive said before about all those 'future predictions', they never considered that Govt would actually allow these kinds of technologies to the public, and not suppress them.

Besides that, its pretty interesting/suspicious, the Invention Secrecy Act was put into force in 1951...Gee, strange timing for such a thing?
