I was just wondering what you guys thing of Travis Taylor. He's a local boy (to me), and has been on quite a few of the "unexplained mystery" programs on the Science Channel, History Channel, and possibly others in the Discovery family.

He was a prime in "Rocket City Rednecks", a program about engineers and scientists in Huntsville (I found the name of the show repulsive); "Three Scientists Walk Into a Bar"; has been on "Ancient Aliens numerous times; this season was on "The Curse of Oak Island"; he was lead on a program about proving some of Nikola Tesla's work in wireless power transmission ; and was a panelist at the most recent AlienCon seminar. He's making a pretty big name for himself in "unexplained" television.

He has several credible degrees from good schools: BS from Auburn in Electrical Engineering; MS in Physics from the University of Alabama in Huntsville; PhD in Optical Science from UAH; MS in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering from UAH; another PhD in Aerospace Systems Engineering from UAH; and an online Masters in Astronomy from the University of Western Sydney in Australia.

Without a doubt, that's a pretty good resume'/CV. I've noticed that the History Channel frequently refers to him as a Astrophysicist ... which he is not. Why not list his real title?

Anyway, he seems to be a pretty sharp fellow if he'd just lose that damn accent!

Thoughts?

Travis Taylor could have a degree from a welding academy.
If he looks the part and can read a script well, he will be
on those shows. That is what tv is about. The accent actually
helps him because it makes him seem like a regular fella'
even though he has advanced degrees.

I've met him. Years ago before he was on TV the company he worked for subcontracted some optics work for us. He's actually a smart guy. Smart enough I think to have parlayed his technical background into TV deals. I knew he'd done Rocket City Rednecks, but didn't know about the other shows until I happened to see him pop up on Oak Island.

Why use Astrophysicist? Probably because it sounds a lot cooler to the public than Optical Science.
