My neighbor is displaying this little wooden statue in her garden. Are these Wiccan?

I never saw any Wiccan items that had those symbols. But what I really want to know is, is that your thumb? Like, did you actually go in her garden and grab it?

It certainly doesn’t look Wiccan. Why would you think it was? Wiccan symbols include upright pentacles, depictions of maiden/mother/crone, natural items such as trees, traditionally Celtic or Norse imagery, as well as many symbols of other generally old European paths.

I have no idea of the significance of the panel. I’d say it doesn’t look Wiccan in any way, though. And like irootoo asked—did you go snatch it out of her garden to get a picture?

I don't see anything Wiccan there. Why don't you just ask her what it is?

Wiccan is a hodge podge of different beliefs and symbols cobbled together in a pseudo celtic/pagan religion. Those don't look wiccan, eastern or even native American. Not Luciferian, either. Maybe she's just being creative?

Yes, that's my thumb. The statue was sitting on top of our transformer.

The character on the back bothered me, because I knew I'd seen something like it before. I think what your neighbor might is an Ethiopian carving, and the character that looks like a W with a handle is called "tayt" in the Amharic script (an upside-down tayt; see the image). The objects with the flames look to me like stylized stars or comets. I wondered if the character might be Sanskrit, but looking at a table of characters I don't see any that match.

So it might be an Ethiopian carving, probably sold in a tourist market. If it has any religous significance, it's probably Christian since Ethiopia has been a Christian country for 1600 to 1900 years depending on what story you subscribe to.

I don't know a thing about Wiccan, but I can understand why the OP asked the question. It looks like I might think a Wiccan plaque would look becaue of preconceived notions. I suppose that's because of the flowing lines we see.

Wiccan? I would guess it's more like Walmart. Straight from the outdoor/patio department.
