Anyone who's done a lot of work with the government will tell you, 'tain't so. There are Harry Reids everywhere in the government - including the FBI. The agency was bugged by the 'Bigfoot Information Center' to examine hairs. It is all in that first letter. The FBI did not go looking for BF; instead enthusiasts came to them. I presume that many agents would have simply said NO. But they found one that agreed to the testing of the hairs. Like the Himalayan expedition looking for evidence; the results came back negative (deer hair). So now we have more BF believers that want to make this an 'official' investigation when they started the whole thing originally!

That's correct. It could have been a case of some downtime in the lab that needed filling, and/or a bit of interest about the subject by the agent they contacted.

I heard a new angle on bigfoot on a show recently. They are inter-dimensional travelers. THat's why there's no viable evidence.

It's getting deep. Get you boot on!

That actually makes more sense than an undiscovered primate.

My explanation on Bigfoot:

You ever been on a road trip with your dog and you have to pull over to let the dog do its business? That's what Bigfoot is: Pets for the aliens. Flying saucers are zipping past our solar system, and Fido and Footo need to go out, so they zip by Earth, let the Bigfeet out for a bit to do their business, then zoom off again. It totally explains both UFOs and Bigfoot.

This reminds me of Arkady and Boris Strugatsky's 1971 science fiction novel "Roadside Picnic" which is about six inexplicable zones that appear on earth containing weird objects and where strange things happen. One of the characters says of these zones:
A picnic. Picture a forest, a country road, a meadow. Cars drive off the country road into the meadow, a group of young people get out carrying bottles, baskets of food, transistor radios, and cameras. They light fires, pitch tents, turn on the music. In the morning they leave. The animals, birds, and insects that watched in horror through the long night creep out from their hiding places. And what do they see? Old spark plugs and old filters strewn around... Rags, burnt-out bulbs, and a monkey wrench left behind... And of course, the usual mess—apple cores, candy wrappers, charred remains of the campfire, cans, bottles, somebody’s handkerchief, somebody’s penknife, torn newspapers, coins, faded flowers picked in another meadow.
And we can add, the droppings of the furry pets they brought along for the picnic. Andrei Tarkovsky's film The Stalker (1979) was influenced by Roadside Picnic - along with many other films, video games, and other science fiction novels.

I've often (well, not really often, but at least once) what the plural of Bigfoot is ... is it Bigfoots or Bigfeet?

Actually, there are numerous UFO sighting reports where witnesses claim to see a large hairy bipeds in the area.

It sounds off the charts bizarre, but it would explain the secrecy surrounding this and why the FBI would even have an interest.

The reason why the FBI took an 'interest' is because a BF enthusiast bugged them to check out a few deer hairs! The FBI has approximately 35,000 people working for it. Of course out of that large number I am sure some are BF believers. So if you bug the agency enough; you are sooner or later going to find somebody to run your deer hairs.

Trying to use the FBI to give weight or credibility to bigfoot encounters is not working. I repeat; they were deer hair.

There are literally millions of reports where children have a monster under their beds.
