Yes, Sudman came away from her experience with a seemingly miraculous healing, too. Apparently her body was blown up pretty badly, and she wasn't expected to live, or not to survive as a productive, fully functional human being.

From what Ive seen on Youtube and online in general, it seems to be about 50/50, (people that have positive ones versus the negative ones), There are quite a few of both types online if you look for them.

I think this may be one reason I fear death so much, Im not a bad or evil person, but Im not a saint either, Ive caused my share of problems in the past, and was a bit of a wild child until I hit my mid 20s and got married.

I think what frightens me the most about these NDEs, no one seems to ever have a 'neutral' one (not positive or negative)...thats not a good sign imo!!

I am not a believer and I cannot picture myself changing my mind because I hallucinated when close to death. They can cremate me and scatter my ashes to the wind and I don't care. I have thought this through many times and I just cannot picture myself thinking after all my cells turn to mush. It is one thing to feel that your energy will go on forever, but when you have nothing left to see or feel that forever; how do you know its forever?

I am sure that many see this as a mind altering experience and it is a 'real' of an experience as one can get without dying. But keep in mind that it isn't dying because they came back. So we really do not know what is on the other side. I just believe there is nothing on the other side.

NDEs illustrate that the purpose of this seventy year sliver of physical life at the beginning of our eternal existence is to freely choose who and where we want to be for eternity.

I have never made an intense study of NDE, but like all things paranormal I try to approach it with a healthy degree of open-minded skepticism.

NDE's may well be various chemicals and electrical impulses in our brains going haywire as the brain shuts down. Maybe. How then do they explain a blind person's NDE who can see for the first time in the NDE? Or people who accurately describe things in different rooms from their body? Or people who met dead relatives and described them accurately despite never having met them?

Some of these may be hoaxes or wishful thinking or religious mania. All of them? I'm skeptical. Brain chemicals and electrical impulses don't adequately cover all the bases here.

And I'm not sure this is an "either/or" situation so much as a "both/and." Maybe much of what is experienced during an NDE has to do with brain chemicals and electrical impulses. That doesn't necessarily make the rest untrue. Both could be going on at the same time.

I truly hope you are right!

I have a nagging suspicion though, there IS some kind of judgement afterwards.

Me, too. But that doesn't mean I am going to buy into every NDE story I hear. I have heard a lot of froo-froo over the years. I try to keep an open mind coupled with a healthy skepticism.

I understand what you mean about not believing all NDEs, but the way I look at it...if we are indeed judged in some way...then every single NDE on the internet, COULD be accurate...

The afterlife could be your worst nightmare, or it could be nothing like you ever imagined, or anything in between, the possibilities are literally endless.

Though I've not been "dead-dead" I've had 2 near death experiences, where I was close enough to death to absolutely affirm my faith in God.

I pray everyday. I repent everyday. I give thanks for every day.

Wow...did you see or experience anything?

I worry sometimes about this, because I am not exactly a loving and caring person, I cuss people in traffic and when they are talking their sweet old time in line in front of me, Ive been annoyed by kids asking me things, etc etc, but on the other hand, I will normally go well above and beyond for friends, or to help someone out, it just varies so much, depends on what mood Im in that day too.
