In the last couple of days, this has popped up.

Bigelow Institute for Consciousness Studies (BICS) is asking for essays with a subject of “the survival of consciousness after permanent bodily death.”. Prizes announced at the end of the year are 500K, 300K, 150K for these essay submissions. From the interview snippit at the link above, it seems Bigelow has a genuine interest in the research and evidence out there in books and documentaries, so I suspect this submission of essays is to give them some idea which areas of research they need to persue.

“The Bigelow Institute for Consciousness Studies, was formed to try to conduct research and facilitate research into the possibility of the survival of human consciousness beyond bodily death, Bigelow told Mystery Wire in an exclusive interview, “and, if that is true, then to explore what is the other side all about?”

Bigelow does not mind rubbing shoulders with powerful politicians for funds. That is our money that he pleads for. His genuine interest is more about money than understanding the unknown.

I think its more accurate to say, his interest is in finding ways to EXPLOIT these things, in order to benefit him...(to exploit something, they must know all about it).
This was actually why Harry Reid agreed to give Bigelow Govt money for research at the Skinwalker Ranch...ultimately, Reid was hoping new military/weapons technology could be created from the research.
I have a feeling they found out that this stuff cannot be adequately controlled/reproduced though.

...And the stuff from Skinwalker Ranch NIDS investigation which he financed is still not released I believe too, although there is absolutely no reason why he should if he(the government) paid for it. The question is how many steps does the money have to go to before it is 'cleaned' of government influence. From government -> Bigelow -> NIDS. If the government did not finance it, would Bigelow still finance it himself? Or, was the idea that the government wanted to know what was going on there and to see if it was a threat of some kind.
Is this project also funded by the government but we just dont know about it yet. Quite possibly, as the government is interested in consciousness too as has been seen by the Remote Viewing projects.

So, the results are in and they eventually ended up with 29 prizewinners who received 20,000 upwards with the top prize being 500,000.
Robert Bigelow says he will publish all 29 of the essays on his website fo the public to read. This should be interesting and I wonder what the sceptics will say about it all.
Robert Bigelow talks to George Knapp
The Bigelow Institute for Consciousness Studies (BICS) website
BICS website (but no essays yet as the results were only announced on 1st Nov 2021)
George Knapp has co-authored a book about the AATIP project and about the Skinwalker Ranch investigation.

I have zero problem with legitimate studies into life after death. I'm all for it. But I think Robert Bigelow is a bit of an attention-seeking koo koo. I wouldn't give him any money.

Those grants really aren't that hard to get. It is more about who you know and filling out the correct paperwork. You would be amazed if you knew all the beyond silly stuff tax payers are funding.

Most people do not bother to find out how to do this and yet they complain when the guys who do, get the benefits.
If you dont like the system - then change it. Mainly, we deserve what we get because we have been too lazy to change it or we look the other way (in the case of dodgy people, priests, politicians, movie stars, rich people, messing with kids or financial irregularities).
I am not saying Bigelow is warped, but I am saying that we should not moan about the situation we have got ourselves (as a population) into and too lazy to get ourselves out of.
