We cannot escape the fact that the NT Bible was created by man, 50-100 years after the birth of Christ. The OT Bible was also created by man and came from a bunch of writings cobbled together from older documents. Of course, politically, the writings were massaged by the priests and scholars of the time, just like historical documents and accounts are politically and racially influenced in modern times.
So, priests and scholars are going to interpret things in a way to increase their power and influence in that society. They want to maintain their grip on their religion, to encourage more people to join, and to stop leakage of members to other religions. Read the Bible with this mindset and you will understand the motivation of the writings.
I do believe that ET had a hand in DNA crafting the modern human from more ancient hominids. I also believe that the basic idea behind religions is a good one as it teaches us morals and rules to help us keep a structured society at a time when we needed that to unite us. I think that ET have not shown themselves to us because they understand from previous experiments of theirs, that a shock like this would destroy our society and would fragment us into pieces.
By denying UFOs and ET, the government is trying to maintain order and control just like every other government needs to do, otherwise there will be rioting in the streets if there is panic in the population.
I also believe that ALL beings have a "spirit" which lives on and evolves as an everlasting entity, so no matter what the 'container' (body) looks like, there is a soul/spirit/being which is inside that container. The container/body is born and dies yet the spirit/soul lives on in this and other dimensions.
I am not a debunker. If all of this is actually true no problem for me. But I am a skeptic. I need cold hard facts.
But what it seems you are saying is. These alien beings are all powerful. Can do anything. Been around for what thousands of years, millions, billions? So they are all powerful yet our government who can't get anything right regarding wars, the economy, the climate, etc. Our government has somehow been able to stop these beings from being detected even though you seem to be implying they want to be found out. Seems to me if these beings want to be known. The government can't stop that.
For more than 200 years our government has kept them hidden or when did they start doing this? What about before America existed? Or when people were just hunters and gatherers. Who was preventing them from being discovered back then? What about all the other countries in the world. Many who hate us? Do they all know also? Kim in N. Korea? Or just America knows all of this. Somehow every powerful person on earth knows about all of this and keeps their mouths shut. Elon Musk? Do you think he knows?
That is the problem with this sort of stuff. If you look at the big picture there are lots holes in it.
And how does the US Congress control what the entire world says? It's like aliens only monitor Americans for some weird reason.
I'll believe it when I see it. There are certainly many more things in this world that are man made to be worried about than this.

Any angel/alien/entity I've ever read about never claimed to be God. They always speak of a Creator and we/them being co-creators. Doesn't mean there are a few misfits out there however, just like here.
This may sound crazy but my buddies and I had multiple UFO sightings from 1973-76 and during this time, let's just say I got some religion and became a Christian. I would read the bible and think to myself, maybe these were aliens , not angels nor God. Then one miracle (a few more as well) convinced me Jesus was God not an alien. When He told one of his disciples to go to the lake and take a coin out of the first fish he catches and pay the taxes with that coin, well, I think only God could pull that off. Aliens, I suppose could replicate almost any miracle but there are a few they can't, the fish I just mentioned, Lazarus being raised, the rooster crowing 3 times etc.
Again, been reading about disclosure since the 90s...it happened. (NY Times article about Navy chasing UFOS) Next in line will be Webb maybe seeing lights on dark side of a planet from a close star? Mars had an ancient civilization (laugh all you want) once.
They found radioactive particles in the air on Mars only produced artificially , to me, I see mass destruction when looking at many of the 'boulders'. Lastly, if they disclose like you think it might happen, life goes on. I doubt anyone jumps off a bridge over it , maybe a few. Talk about fragile however. Yikes.

But if they are friendly or (more likely) don't really care about us one way or the other, why panic? Why would there be rioting in the streets if we announce the aliens?

Really though, this is all moot. Let's touch base again in late Spring 2023. I'll bet dollars against anyone's donuts that there is no "big alien revelation" by then.

The only reason I can see is not so much immediate panic, but it would send every major religion into spiral, having to explain how this is possible while still having a relationship with a higher spiritual being. From there, it may cause a domino effect with people's belief system being turned upside down and no doubt the doomers will take full advantage of it to spread chaos.
I do believe the Roman Catholic Church is already doing damage control. in 2015 they put out an article stating aliens may very well exist, but that doesn't conflict with one's belief in God. No. It wouldn't.
It would upset the fundamentalists who want to interpret Genesis 1-3 as literal science, but they are a fractional minority within Christianity.
Orthodox Christianity, mainline Protestants, Judaism, Islam, and Hinduism would have no problem accepting aliens. Their theology already accounts for the concept. And those are the "world's major religions."
IF a person believes what the bible says, then they have to take into consideration what the book of Genesis also says :
[1:26] Then God said, "Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth."
[1:27] So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
If the aliens had created us, then we would all look like them.
The bible also says that in the end days there will be many false prophets and that the Anti-Christ will demand to be worshipped as God. So if anybody is a Christian and believes aliens also created us, they need to remember that if/when the aliens "pretend" they made us, they are surely lying.
